Hunter Sharp News

Sits out Thursday

Sharp did not play in Thursday's preseason contest versus the Redskins.

Analysis: Sharp was seen working out on the rehab field earlier in the week, per Tyler Dragon of The Cincinnati Enquirer, and he's apparently still battling the undisclosed issue. Any absence for the 25-year-old makes it increasingly difficult to make the 53-man roster.

Moves to active roster

Sharp was promoted to the Bengals' 53-man roster Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Analysis: Sharp has been on the Bengals' practice squad since Nov. 20 and joins the active roster ahead of Week 17. Tyler Boyd (knee) moves to injured reserve in a corresponding move as Sharp should serve as a depth option at wide receiver Sunday at Pittsburgh.

Joins Cincinnati's practice squad

Sharp signed with the Bengals' practice squad Tuesday.

Analysis: Sharp was released from Buffalo's practice squad in early November after spending the majority of the season there. The former Utah State receiver has five receptions for 54 yards and a touchdown in his short career, and he'll look to provide depth to Cincinnati's wideout corps.

Cut from practice squad

Sharp was released off Buffalo's practice squad Wednesday, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports.

Analysis: Sharp was added to to Bills' practice squad in mid-September after spending some time in 2017 with the Broncos and Giants, appearing in two games for the latter. The 24-year-old was let go at roster cutdowns by New York and is now looking for a new team or practice squad once again.

Signed to Bills' practice squad

Sharp was added to Buffalo's practice squad Tuesday.

Analysis: Sharp spent the 2017 with the Giants, and in the two games he was active, accumulated five catches for 54 yards and a touchdown. That, however, wasn't enough for him to make New York's roster this season, as he was released in early September. If activated, Sharp -- who also has experience as a punt returner -- will provide depth to Buffalo's receiving corps.

Held in check during preseason finale

Sharp was held without a catch on his lone target and called for a fair catch on his only punt-return attempt during Thursday's preseason finale against the Patriots.

Analysis: The Giants are looking for an answer at punt returner and they may have one in Sharp, who returned a punt for a touchdown during last week's preseason game against the Jets. While he was unable to follow up with another impressive performance Thursday, neither did anyone else on the roster, which bodes well for Sharp's chances of making the 53-man roster.
