After posting a dud in week 3 after a breakout game in Week 2, Denver Broncos wide receiver Troy Franklin led the team with eight targets in Monday's win over the Bengals. With the Philadelphia Eagles having a middle-of-the-pack pass defense (ranked 15th), Franklin can continue to be a focal point. At the same time, the Eagles are forced to focus on Courtland Sutton and Marvin Mims Jr. Broncos quarterback Bo Nix has seemingly favored Franklin as the WR2 on the offense, considering he has the same amount of targets as Sutton on the season. In what could be a defensive game for both sides, feel confident in starting Franklin as a WR3/ FLEX option as he comes in as RotoBaller's WR35 for Week 5.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Troy Franklin has certainly taken a step forward during his second pro season, but he still isn't a very reliable fantasy option heading into Week 4 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Franklin broke out with eight catches and a touchdown in Week 2, but in his two other games, he averaged just three catches, 26 yards, and zero touchdowns. Without consistent production, the Oregon product ranks as a low-end WR4 and is a bit too risky to insert into lineups. That's especially true this week against the Cincinnati Bengals. While Cincinnati is limping right now with Joe Burrow (toe) sidelined, they've been solid against the pass, whether it's due to good defensive play or Cincinnati's opponents routinely running the ball with a sizable lead. The Bengals have allowed the 13th-fewest receiving yards and fifth-fewest touchdowns to wide receivers in 2025. Franklin can be left on the bench in most leagues.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Troy Franklin currently leads the team in catches (12), targets (15), and receiving yards (133). He had four grabs for 44 yards in the Week 1 win over the Titans. However, the 22-year-old turned up the volume in the Week 2 loss to the Indianapolis Colts by amassing eight receptions for 89 yards and one touchdown. Despite his production throughout the Broncos' first two contests, he's still not a threat to overthrow Courtland Sutton for the No. 1 spot on the depth chart, at least not as of right now. Denver will meet the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3. While the Chargers defense could be a problem, Franklin can still be viewed as at least a flex option in most fantasy formats, especially since it appears he has a good thing going with former collegiate teammate and current Broncos quarterback Bo Nix.

Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix said that second-year wide receiver Troy Franklin is "starting to develop into the player everyone knows he can become." Franklin, who was teammates with Nix at Oregon, had a breakout game in the Week 2 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, catching eight of his nine targets for 89 yards and a touchdown. The 22-year-old wideout currently leads the Broncos in targets (15), catches (12), and receiving yards (133) through the first two games in 2025. Franklin probably won't take over WR1 duties from Courtland Sutton, but a second-year breakout could very well be in the cards for him, especially because of his strong chemistry with Nix. His primary competition for weekly targets will come from Marvin Mims Jr., who is more of a big-play deep threat than one who will be consistently peppered with targets. If you need WR help early on, Franklin is definitely worth a waiver-wire pickup.
Sep 17, 2025 8:41 PM EST
Denver Broncos wide receiver Troy Franklin had a breakout game in Week 2, recording eight catches for 89 yards and a touchdown against the Indianapolis Colts. The second-year wideout now has 12 catches for 133 yards and a score through the first two games of the season. Franklin's 15 targets lead the team, ahead of even star Denver wide receiver Courtland Sutton. Franklin has a tough matchup in Week 3 against the Los Angeles Chargers, but he's still a player for fantasy managers to target on the waiver wire given his emerging role in Denver. Franklin should be added in all PPR-scoring leagues with 14 or more teams.
Sep 16, 2025 11:08 AM EST
Denver Broncos wide receiver Troy Franklin had the best game of his career in Week 2, recording eight catches for 89 yards and a touchdown in his team's 29-28 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Franklin was targeted nine times in a game where no other Denver receiver logged more than four targets. The second-year wideout has now recorded 12 catches on 15 targets for 133 yards and a touchdown this season. Franklin could be emerging as the number two wide receiver in Denver behind Courtland Sutton. The 22-year-old will be a name to monitor on the waiver wire for fantasy managers heading into a Week 3 matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Sep 14, 2025 9:33 PM EST
Denver Broncos wide receiver Troy Franklin was given a starter's workload in Week 1 and is looking to build on that performance in Week 2 when the Broncos travel to Indianapolis to face the Colts. In their season-opening victory over the Tennessee Titans, Franklin saw six targets and was able to bring in four of them for 44 yards. This is important to note, as Marvin Mims Jr. was deployed as the WR2 opposite of Courtland Sutton during the preseason, but Franklin's recent usage suggests he may have jumped ahead of him on the depth chart. In this same game, Mims saw just four targets and caught only three of 12 yards. While Franklin carries low-end WR3 value in this contest, if he were to see another starter's workload, he could be worth a look on the waiver wire in deeper three-WR formats heading into Week 3.
Sep 13, 2025 9:26 AM EST
Denver Broncos wide receiver Troy Franklin enters his second NFL season with a chance to carve out a bigger role against the Tennessee Titans. The 2024 fourth-round pick struggled in his rookie year, finishing with 28 receptions for 263 yards and two touchdowns, ranking WR97 in half-PPR formats. Much of that underperformance came with former college teammate Bo Nix under center. This offseason, the Broncos cleared the path for Franklin to earn meaningful snaps by trading De'Vaughn Vele and letting Lil'Jordan Humphrey walk in free agency. The second-year receiver enters Week 1 as the WR3 on Denver's depth chart and should see more opportunities in the passing game. Still, Franklin faces a tough matchup. The Titans allowed the second-fewest fantasy points to wide receivers in 2024, limiting upside for any emerging Broncos pass-catcher besides Courtland Sutton. For now, Franklin remains a waiver-wire stash until he proves he can produce consistently at the next level.
Sep 6, 2025 1:27 PM EST
Denver Broncos second-year wide receiver Troy Franklin continued to stand out in the team's 27-7 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday in the second week of the preseason. Franklin caught four of his five targets from backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham for 67 yards and two touchdowns. The 22-year-old out of Oregon has received praise from teammates this summer and has now caught nine passes for 85 yards and the two scores in two preseason games. He shared the team lead in catches and targets with rookie Pat Bryant on Saturday. Franklin has shown improvement in training camp going into his sophomore season in th NFL, but competition for targets in Denver behind WR1 Courtland Sutton could be fierce. He caught 28 of his 53 targets for 263 yards and two TDs in 16 regular-season games (six starts) last year and is currently outside RotoBaller's top 100 fantasy wideouts.
Aug 17, 2025 1:22 PM EST
Denver Broncos tight end Evan Engram recently praised second-year wide receiver Troy Franklin, saying that it's "really evident (Franklin) is going to have a big year." A fourth-round pick in 2024, Franklin recorded 28 catches for 263 yards and two touchdowns in 16 games as a rookie. The 22-year-old has had a strong preseason so far, recording nine catches for 85 yards and two touchdowns across the team's first two games. Courtland Sutton is the clear WR1 in Denver, but there's an opportunity for Franklin to emerge as the WR2 amongst a group that also includes Marvin Mims Jr., Devaughn Vele, and rookie Pat Bryant.
Aug 17, 2025 9:34 AM EST
According to Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton, wide receiver Troy Franklin is "having a good camp." The 22-year-old had a quiet rookie season. However, he at least displayed some signs of promise by catching 28 passes for 263 yards and two touchdowns. The Broncos have plenty of capable receivers, specifically Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims Jr., and tight end Evan Engram. Still, there's room for Franklin to get more snaps throughout the 2025 campaign, especially if he continues to impress heading into Week 1. He already has a rapport with quarterback Bo Nix dating back to their collegiate days at Oregon, but it still may be tough for him to be involved consistently. As a result, Franklin's redraft value is limited, although his ceiling should rise if there is an injury to a member of the receiving corps during the season.
Aug 1, 2025 10:52 PM EST
Denver Broncos second-year wide receiver Troy Franklin has had a good offseason, has looked more explosive and added about five pounds, according to head coach Sean Payton. The Broncos took the Oregon product in the fourth round (102nd overall) in last year's draft to pair him with college teammate and quarterback Bo Nix. The slim pass-catcher's chemistry with Nix didn't really translate in Year 1 in the NFL, as he finished with 28 catches for 263 yards and two touchdowns on 53 targets over 16 regular-season games (six starts). The No. 2 role behind Courtland Sutton is up for grabs in Denver, with Franklin competing with Marvin Mims Jr., Devaughn Vele and rookie Pat Bryant for a bigger role in 2025. The addition of pass-catching tight end Evan Engram won't help. Franklin is worth keeping an eye on in training camp, but for now, he's outside of RotoBaller's top-100 fantasy receivers.
Jun 12, 2025 9:28 PM EST
Denver Broncos rookie wide receiver Troy Franklin caught two of his three targets for 54 yards and a touchdown during their playoff loss to the Buffalo Bills. Franklin made an impact early, bringing in a 43-yard TD pass from his college teammate Bo Nix to give Denver an early lead on their first offensive drive of the game. Franklin's other reception went for 11 yards in the fourth quarter. Franklin's 54 yards and three targets were both second-most among Denver pass catchers, only less than Courtland Sutton. Throughout the regular season, Franklin struggled to find consistent opportunities as he tallied just 263 yards and two scores on 28 receptions. Franklin will look to earn a larger role in the Denver offense in his sophomore campaign.
Jan 12, 2025 4:19 PM EST
Denver Broncos wide receiver Troy Franklin remains an unreliable option in fantasy football lineups ahead of Sunday's Week 18 contest against the Kansas City Chiefs. Franklin, a rookie out of Oregon, has continued to showcase his existing rapport with quarterback Bo Nix, catching 26 passes for 251 yards and a pair of touchdowns in 2024. However, he hasn't caught more than two passes in a single game since Week 7, and he remains behind Courtland Sutton, Devaughn Vele, and Marvin Mims Jr. in the offensive pecking order. As long as the Broncos' top three receivers stay healthy, Franklin won't see enough snaps or targets to justify starting him in fantasy football. He can be benched in dynasty leagues and left on waivers in redraft formats.
Jan 5, 2025 8:21 AM EST
Denver Broncos wide receiver Troy Franklin (ankle) was able to get through a full practice session on Tuesday. Franklin popped up on the injury report to begin the week, but the fact he was a full participant on Tuesday suggests that he'll be fine for the Week 17 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. Franklin hauled in two of his three targets for 25 yards during last week's loss. The rookie wideout hasn't finished with more than two receptions in a single game since Week 7. That being said, Franklin won't be an ideal streaming option for Saturday's game against the Bengals.
Dec 24, 2024 9:46 PM EST
Denver Broncos rookie wide receiver Troy Franklin found paydirt for the second time in his career in the 38-6 beatdown of the visiting Atlanta Falcons on Sunday in Week 11 action, catching both of his targets on the day for 15 yards and the score. Franklin was one of four pass-catchers for the Broncos to haul in touchdown passes against a soft Falcons secondary to help the team get back over .500 at 6-5. His touchdown was his first since the Week 5 loss to the Chargers. The 21-year-old rookie out of Oregon has plenty of chemistry with quarterback Bo Nix from their time together in college, but Franklin, who is rostered in only 1% of Yahoo leagues, just isn't seeing enough volume to be a weekly starting option for fantasy managers. Franklin has only gone over two receptions once in 10 games and still hasn't eclipsed 50 receiving yards in 2024.
Nov 18, 2024 10:20 AM EST
After leading the team in receiving in the Week 8 victory over the New Orleans Saints, Denver Broncos rookie wide receiver Troy Franklin was barely heard from in the 41-10 blowout loss to the hosting Baltimore Ravens on Sunday in Week 9, catching one of his four targets for a 19-yard pickup. He has had more opportunities in the Broncos' passing attack since Josh Reynolds (finger) landed on Injured Reserve, but it's led to only nine receptions on 15 targets for 106 yards and a touchdowns in four games. Rookie QB Bo Nix has spread the ball around quite effectively in recent weeks, and it's clear that it's impossible to trust any receiver beyond Courtland Sutton in fantasy in this offense. The 21-year-old Franklin has a 14-135-1 line in his first eight NFL games and won't be a recommended fantasy play in Week 10 versus the division-rival Kansas City Chiefs on the road.
Nov 4, 2024 10:45 AM EST
Denver Broncos wide receiver Troy Franklin caught 1-of-2 targets for six yards in Sunday's 28-14 win over the Carolina Panthers, adding three yards on his lone carry. It appeared that the rookie wideouts usage was trending up over the last few weeks, and Sunday's outing against Carolina was an excellent spot for a breakout game against one of the league's worst defenses. However, WR1 Courtland Sutton totaled 100 yards on his eight receptions, and tight end Adam Trautman had a surprising performance as the team's second-leading receiver (4/85/1). Fantasy managers likely weren't relying on Franklin -- still, it would have been encouraging to see him more involved in the game plan. The Broncos will square off against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 9, so perhaps the Oregon product sees more work in a more competitive matchup.
Oct 27, 2024 8:49 PM EST
Denver Broncos wide receiver Troy Franklin will line up against a weak Carolina Panthers defense this Sunday in Week 8. The rookie wideout started the season cold in a part-time role, playing fewer than 20 snaps in each of his first four appearances. However, he's seen his snap share tick up over the last few weeks (36/33) and responded with increased production. Franklin had his best outing of the season on Thursday Night Football a week ago, racking up 50 yards while hauling in 5-of-6 targets. He gets an even better matchup this week against a Panthers D that's been the worst in the league on a per-play basis against opposing pass attacks. The former Oregon Duck can't precisely be trusted as an every-week option just yet, but his usage may continue to increase as the season wanes on. Additionally, his collegiate connection with quarterback Bo Nix could prove helpful in the back half of the season. Franklin is the PPR WR58 this week in RotoBaller's ranks.
Oct 26, 2024 2:01 PM EST
Denver Broncos rookie wide receiver Troy Franklin was rookie quarterback Bo Nix's favorite target on Thursday night in the team's 33-10 blowout win over the hosting New Orleans Saints. On a night where Courtland Sutton surprisingly was not targeted at all, Franklin led all Broncos pass-catchers in targets (six), catches (five) and receiving yards (50), although he was unable to find the end zone for the second straight week. The 21-year-old's longest reception of the game went for a 30-yard chunk gain. Franklin, the former college teammate of Nix at Oregon, now has seven catches for 81 yards and a score in two games with Josh Reynolds (finger) on Injured Reserve. It's clear that he'll continue to have a big role while Reynolds is out, making him worth a waiver-wire flier in deeper fantasy leagues heading into a great matchup in Week 8 versus the one-win Carolina Panthers.
