Signs another deal with Green Bay

The Packers signed Cotton to a reserve/future contract Tuesday.

Analysis: Cotton bounced around practice squads during the first two seasons of his career and spent much of the 2022 campaign unsigned after being cut by the Cardinals on Sept. 20. The 25-year-old wideout then landed a deal with the Packers' practice squad Nov. 9, and he finished the season on this unit without ever making an appearance for Green Bay. Cotton has played one game during the 2021 season with Jacksonville, and he'll look to carve out a spot in the Packers' young receiving corps this offseason.

Joins Green Bay's practice squad

The Packers signed Cotton to their practice squad Wednesday.

Analysis: Cotton has made just one NFL appearance, for the Jaguars in 2021, since joining the league as an undrafted free agent with the Chargers. Green Bay is currently dealing with injuries to Allen Lazard (shoulder), Randall Cobb (ankle), Romeo Doubs (ankle) and Sammy Watkins (knee), so it isn't surprising to see them add wideout depth, though it's unlikely Cotton will be elevated to the active roster anytime soon.

Gets cut Tuesday

Cotton was waived from the Cardinals' practice squad Tuesday, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Analysis: Cotton spent most of last season on the Jaguars' practice squad, ultimately appearing in one contest for the franchise. He linked up with the Cardinals on Sept. 14, yet it appears his time with the franchise will be short. He'll now work to earn an opportunity elsewhere.

Joins Arizona's practice squad

The Cardinals signed Cotton to their practice squad Tuesday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis: Cotton and JaVonta Payton were signed to the Cardinals' practice squad Wednesday after the team placed Victor Bolden on the practice squad injured list. On the active roster, Arizona may be without Rondale Moore (hamstring) for a second straight game and, obviously, won't have DeAndre Hopkins until Week 6, so Cotton and Payton could be potential roster elevations moving forward. Cotton appeared in first NFL game last year with the Jaguars, but he played mostly on special teams.

Signs futures deal

Cotton signed a reserve/future deal with the Jaguars on Monday.

Analysis: Cotton made one appearance -- Week 17 at New England -- during the 2021 campaign. He played 14 special team snaps and one offensive snap, but he didn't record any other stats.

Reverts to practice squad

Cotton reverted to the Jaguars' practice squad Monday.

Analysis: Cotton saw one snap on offense and 14 on special teams in his NFL debut. He put up no other stats, however.

Joins Jags' practice squad

Cotton was signed to Jacksonville's practice squad Wednesday.

Analysis: Cotton had a strong preseason showing, catching seven passes for 116 yards and a touchdown, but he was unable to crack the Jaguars' initial 53-man roster. However, he impressed enough to earn a spot on the practice squad and could receive another look if the team has any injury issues at wideout.

Finishes preseason strong

Cotton caught three of four targets for 66 yards during Sunday's preseason matchup with the Cowboys.

Analysis: Cotton was minimally involved in the passing game during the preseason opener, but he led the Jaguars in receiving yards in each of the last two exhibition contests. The 2020 UDFA out of Idaho finished with seven catches for 116 yards and a touchdown, and he even worked some with the second-string offense while playing 30 offensive snaps Sunday. He may still have a difficult time cracking Jacksonville's roster to open the season, though he should be a prime candidate for the practice squad if cut.

Scores in Monday's exhibition

Cotton caught four of five targets for 50 yards during Monday's preseason game against the Saints.

Analysis: The 2020 UDFA out of Idaho signed with Jacksonville in the start of August and showed a strong rapport with quarterback C.J. Beathard. Cotton is unlikely to crack the Jaguars' season-opening roster, but he should be in the mix for a spot on the practice squad, especially if he builds on Monday's performance over the coming weeks.

Joins Jags

Cotton signed a contract with the Jaguars on Saturday, John Shipley of SI.com reports.

Analysis: Cotton spent training camp with the Chargers last year but was unable to secure a spot on the season-opening roster. He'll likely be competing for a spot on the practice squad in Jacksonville.
