Newly acquired Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Jonathan Mingo failed to catch a pass from four targets in a 34-10 loss to Houston on Monday. Dallas gave up a fourth-round pick in a trade with Carolina at the trade deadline, but couldn't get the second-year receiver involved at all against Houston. With quarterback Dak Prescott (hamstring) out for the season and the Dallas running game unable to muster much of anything, it's difficult to see the situation improving at all. At this stage, Mingo doesn't need to occupy a fantasy roster spot, even in deep leagues.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Jonathan Mingo is set to make his debut on Monday night against the Houston Texans. The second-year receiver was acquired from Carolina at the trade deadline. With CeeDee Lamb (back) listed as questionable, Mingo could see a larger role than he would typically have this week. Houston's defense is susceptible to receivers, although with the uncanny situation in Dallas there are not many intriguing options from a fantasy standpoint. Mingo should not be on the fantasy radar, although his usage on Monday night should be monitored.

New Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Jonathan Mingo will make his team debut on Monday against Houston, according to Clarence Hill Jr. of DLLS Sports. The former second-round pick lasted fewer than two years with the Carolina Panthers, who shipped him and a seventh-round pick to Dallas for a fourth-rounder at the trade deadline. Mingo had 12 catches on 26 targets in nine games with the Panthers this year, keeping him well off the fantasy radar. Even with the change of scenery, it's difficult to envision Mingo making much of an impact on a Cowboys offense playing without quarterback Dak Prescott (hamstring) for the rest of the season.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Jonathan Mingo (coach's decision) is inactive for Week 10 against the Philadelphia Eagles. He had not appeared on the injury report. However, given that Mingo was acquired from the Carolina Panthers just five days ago, we can assume that he simply needs more time to learn Dallas' system. CeeDee Lamb and Jalen Tolbert will continue to be the top wide receivers in the Cowboys' Cooper Rush-led offense.

The Carolina Panthers are trading wide receiver Jonathan Mingo and a seventh-round pick to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a fourth-round pick. Mingo was a second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft but has struggled to make an impact for the rebuilding Panthers. Through his first 24 games, he has hauled in 55 of his 111 targets for 539 yards and no touchdowns. Meanwhile, rookies Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker passed him up on the depth chart this season. Dallas is lacking pass-catching depth behind All-Pro wideout CeeDee Lamb and is taking a flyer on the Ole Miss product. However, given Mingo's struggles to begin his career and Dak Prescott likely headed to Injured Reserve, it would be a surprise if the sophomore wideout makes a significant fantasy impact in 2024.
Nov 5, 2024 10:07 AM EST
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Jonathan Mingo caught two of his five targets for a total of 37 yards during Sunday's Week 5 loss to the Chicago Bears. Mingo saw increased opportunities with Adam Thielen (hamstring) and Xavier Legette (shoulder) both injured. The second-year receiver out of Ole Miss played 68 percent of the Panthers' offensive snaps and finished with his highest fantasy points total of the 2024 season. Mingo isn't quite a trustworthy fantasy option going forward, but he still provided managers with some optimism that he could handle a larger workload in the event of more injuries to Carolina's receiver room.

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Jonathan Mingo racked up three catches and 24 yards on five targets in the team's 34-24 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. The second-year wideout finished with the third-most yards and targets on the team but finished one reception shy of Chuba Hubbard for the same honor. The Panthers didn't get back into the win column in this one, but they at least made it a game against a Bengals squad starving for a win. After two weeks of an Andy Dalton-led offense, it is evident that the team is in much better hands with him under center. Mingo's five targets matched the previous season-high he accrued back in Week 1, but veteran WR Diontae Johnson and rookie Xavier Legette each accumulated double-digit targets in this one. The former second-round pick will be tough to trust moving forward as more than a dart throw option on a weekly basis until his usage ticks up in Carolina's passing attack. The Panthers will take on the 2-2 Chicago Bears on the road in Week 5.

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Jonathan Mingo could see his usage tick up in Week 4 when the team hosts the Cincinnati Bengals. Mingo was already set for a more significant role, with wide receiver Adam Thielen (hamstring) heading to injured reserve. Now, the second-year wideout could be an even more prominent target, with Diontae Johnson (groin) turning up on the team's injury report after missing Thursday's practice. Johnson did log a limited session on Friday, but he's listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup. Fellow wideout Xavier Legette is also projected to pick up some slack in the Panthers' passing attack. Even before Thielen's injury, Mingo was the next man up, as he had the third-most WR snaps on the team after Week 2. It remains to be seen if quarterback Andy Dalton will attempt nearly 40 passes again (37), but if he does and Johnson is not at 100%, Mingo would have the opportunity to post a productive line. Cincinnati's defense hasn't let up a ton of yardage through the air thus far, but they have been quite porous on the ground -- allowing the eighth-most rush yards in the league. Mingo projects as a low-end FLEX with upside for the affair.
Sep 27, 2024 9:44 PM EST
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Jonathan Mingo is expected to step in as the team's third wide receiver in three-receiver sets according to Alex Zietlow of the Charlotte Observer. With Adam Thielen (hamstring) on IR, the opportunity is there for Mingo to step into more of an expanded role and see the field more often. So far this season, the LSU product has six catches for 59 yards. He is still expected to operate behind receivers Diontae Johnson and Xavier Legette but with Andy Dalton at quarterback, the Panthers offense all of a sudden looks able to facilitate some fantasy wide receivers. Mingo is an interesting name to watch on the waiver wire to see how he fares in his new role.
Sep 25, 2024 10:35 AM EST
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Jonathan Mingo has been working with the first-team offense ahead of first-round pick Xavier Legette throughout training camp. Mingo and Terrace Marshall Jr. combined for three catches in Saturday's preseason loss to the New York Jets after each had a drop in the preseason opener, and it sounds like they'll be the more reliable bets for snaps in three-receiver sets with veterans Diontae Johnson and Adam Thielen for quarterback Bryce Young. The Panthers chose Legette with the final pick of Round 1 in this past spring's NFL Draft to augment their receiving corps, but the team may not thrust him into a featured role to begin Year 1. Fantasy managers in redraft leagues should consider Legette a dart-throw WR5/6 flier at the end of 12-team drafts this summer, but the 23-year-old wideout does have a chance to become Carolina's preferred deep threat at some stage of the 2024 season.
Aug 19, 2024 10:58 PM EST
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Jonathan Mingo is listed ahead of first-round rookie Xavier Legette (foot) on the team's first unofficial depth chart. Mingo struggled in his rookie campaign after being selected in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. The Ole Miss product caught just 43 of his 85 targets for 418 yards and did not find the end zone. The organization added Legette and veteran wideout Diontae Johnson this offseason, and Adam Thielen remains on the roster, so it's tough to get excited about Mingo's fantasy prospects. That said, wide receivers often take a "Year 2 leap," and he could have more upside than expected if quarterback Bryce Young bounces back from an abysmal rookie campaign. Fantasy managers in traditional 12-team leagues can likely ignore him in drafts, but he could be a noteworthy waiver-wire option if he impresses early in the 2024 season.
Aug 5, 2024 4:44 PM EST
Wide receiver Jonathan Mingo continues to impress for the Carolina Panthers during practice at training camp. Mingo's first year in the league was a flop with the Panthers, seeing him collect just 41 of his 85 passes for 418 scoreless yards despite playing plenty of snaps in 15 games, but the second-year man out of Ole Miss is looking to bounce back in his sophomore season. The 23-year-old wideout was a second-round pick in the NFL draft in 2023, and he's currently battling with Terrace Marshall Jr. for No. 4 receiver duties behind rookie first-round Xavier Legette in Carolina's offense. Barring a trade involving Diontae Johnson's expiring contract later this year or Adam Thielen being phased out of the offense, Mingo still looks hard-pressed for a consistent role in three-receiver sets as a WR6/7 in fantasy leagues to begin the campaign.
Jul 29, 2024 11:32 PM EST
The Carolina Panthers placed rookie wide receiver Jonathan Mingo (foot) on Injured Reserve on Tuesday with a foot injury and signed veteran running back Mike Boone to their practice squad in a corresponding move. Mingo will now miss the final game of his rookie season in Week 18 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 22-year-old second-rounder predictably had an inconsistent first year in the NFL while working with struggling first-round quarterback Bryce Young. In 15 games played, Mingo caught 43 of his 85 targets for 418 yards and no touchdowns. Mingo and Young will continue to work on their chemistry this offseason in hopes of connecting more often in 2024. With Mingo sidelined this weekend, Terrance Marshall Jr. should be active, while Ihmir Smith-Marsette and Mike Strachan should have bigger roles behind Adam Thielen and DJ Chark Jr.
Jan 2, 2024 7:16 PM EST
Carolina Panthers rookie wide receiver Jonathan Mingo didn't make an impact at all in the team's 26-0 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday in Week 17, catching two of his three targets for a gain of zero yards. The poor performance for the 22-year-old first-year player came a week after he caught his only target for a nine-yard gain. Mingo and first-year quarterback Bryce Young have a lot of maturing to do in the coming seasons and could form a nice bond eventually, but it has been entirely inconsistent for fantasy managers this year. The Mississippi product has not found the end zone in his first 15 NFL games and had 43 receptions on 85 targets for 418 yards. Mingo is seeing his fair share of playing time in his rookie campaign, but he won't be a realistic starting option for fantasy lineups in Week 18 versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Jan 1, 2024 3:20 PM EST
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Jonathan Mingo drew just one target last week in a loss to the Green Bay Packers. The single-target game broke a streak of six straight games with at least five targets for the rookie wideout. Mingo will look to bounce back against the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road in Week 17. The Jaguars have been a plus matchup for receivers as they are allowing the eighth-most fantasy points per game to the position this season. Despite the favorable matchup, Mingo is not a recommended fantasy option heading into the championship round of the fantasy playoffs.
Dec 30, 2023 9:32 AM EST
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Jonathan Mingo has slowly seen his role grow as the season has progressed. The rookie has now drawn at least six targets in five of his past six contests as he prepares to take on the Green Bay Packers at home in Week 16. The Packers have been tough on opposing wide receivers as they are allowing just the 19th-most fantasy points per game to the position in 2023. Thanks to a struggling Carolina offense and the tough matchup against the Packers, Mingo sets up as a low-upside flex option in fantasy heading into Week 16.
Dec 23, 2023 6:57 AM EST
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Jonathan Mingo caught four of his five targets for 32 yards in a 9-7 win over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 15. Mingo's four catches tied with Adam Thielen for the team lead in the low-scoring win over their division rivals. The rookie wideout has seen an uptick in work over the past six games as this was his first time with less than six targets over that span. That being said, he is still looking for his first touchdown this season. Mingo will be a low-end flex heading into a Week 16 matchup against the Green Bay Packers.
Dec 17, 2023 4:40 PM EST
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Jonathan Mingo has been trending up in recent weeks as he's drawn 25 targets over his past three games while reaching at least 60 receiving yards twice over that span. He will look to stay hot in Week 15 against the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons have been tough on fantasy wideouts this season as they are allowing just the 29th-most fantasy points per game to the position. Mingo isn't a must-start by any means but the volume and usage have been there of late, putting him in play as a desperation flex for teams hit by the injury bug as the fantasy playoffs begin in most leagues.
Dec 16, 2023 7:10 AM EST
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Jonathan Mingo caught two of his nine targets for 22 yards in a 28-6 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 14. Mingo's nine targets led the team but he and Bryce Young struggled to get on the same page in a game where Young completed only 13 of his 36 passes. Mingo has been seeing more work of late as he's drawn 22 total targets over his past three games. The rookie wideout will take on the Atlanta Falcons in Week 15.
Dec 10, 2023 6:06 PM EST
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Jonathan Mingo has shown some signs of life of late as he's caught 10 of 16 targets for 129 yards over his past two games. He will look to keep it going on the road against the New Orleans Saints in Week 14. The Saints will be a good test for Mingo as they are allowing just the 29th-most fantasy points per game to wide receivers in 2023. Despite his recent uptick in production, Mingo will be tough to trust against the Saints in Week 14. Treat him as a desperation flex heading into the weekend.
