LeGarrette Blount Biography

LeGarrette Blount is an American football player, currently with the New England Patriots. He is a running back, and he won the Super Bowl XLIX. In junior college, Blount rushed for more than 1,000 yards for two seasons, the two in which he played. He has played with a variety of teams in the NFL, including the Tennessee Titans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Pittsburgh Steelers. In 2009, after the season's opening game, Blount got suspended. He had punched a Boise State opponent. Would he make it to the NFL draft? Of course, and with quite a history to show for it.

LeGarrette Blount went to high school at Taylor County High in Perry, Florida. Highlights of those years include being a two-sport star, and in football he started for four years and also rushed 1,000 yards three times. He was recruited to go to Auburn, and he didn't get a scholarship, so he ended up going to junior college instead. After a stint at East Mississippi Community College, he transferred to Oregon, to play for the Ducks. The Boise State fiasco, mentioned earlier, happened in 2009. He later apologized for his mistakes.

Blount didn't get into the draft in 2010, but he signed a contract with the San Francisco 49ers anyway as a free agent. He then went on to play for the Tennessee Titans. As a Titan, he was sure to make the rookie practice squad if he could get past the waivers. He got claimed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2010, and then began to play with the NFL. In 2013, Blount started playing with the New England Patriots, and this is how most of us know him today. However, in 2014, he went with the Pittsburgh Steelers, before returning to the Patriots in again.

He became known for rushing touchdowns, and he has achieved many victories with the Patriots. He's been known to test out his vertical, and he can hurdle over just about anyone on the field. He also can run like anyone's business, posting solid 40 time of about 4.59 seconds (or 4.61 if you're being picky). Blount has rushed to victory with the Patriots, and as they're on the heels of a recent Super Bowl win, we're sure you'll want ot learn more about him by looking at his twitter at https://twitter.com/LG_Blount.

The combine results for LeGarrette Blount's draft prospects are telling. In 2010, when he first tried for the draft, he had winning scores on the 40-yard dash, bench press, broad jump, and three-cone drill. He was reported in 2010 as being a great risk, and he was also listed as one whom everyone in the NFL should pay attention to. Of course, as we've seen earlier, he had some off the field issues, as with the Boise State incident. He had some problem with rules and regulations, but he's done pretty well with the Patriots, regardless.

For those still hooked into reading about this incredible NFL player, know that his salary is $760,000 in U.S. dollars. And his current contract with the Patriots is for $1,000,000. His signing bonus alone was $100,000. He also received a roster bonus of $75,000 and a workout bonus of $40,000. And, he gets a per game fee of $6,250. On average, his signing bonuses have been around $475,000. So, this year, expect his salary to go up some more, and consider that the Patriots and their incredible record are part of that gain.

So, who is LaGarrette Blount? Some would say he's a dangerous person to be in football, but his recoerd on the field shows that he can fulfill all the possible expectations that a team might have of him. He's able to meet the demands of any team coach, and he even goes beyond these expectations. What will he do next? No one can say for sure, but, given the Patriots' record, you'll love how the future plays right into the hands of talented players like Blount. We'll be here for the duration and hope you will too.
