Injuries to the New Orleans Saints wide receiver room cleared a path up the depth chart for rookie Mason Tipton. With Chris Olave (concussion), Rashid Shaheed (knee), and Bub Means (ankle) on injured reserve, and Cedrick Wilson Jr. (shoulder) out for Week 10, there seemed to be ample opportunity for Tipton to soak up some targets. Sadly, that wasn't the case as Tipton did not draw a single target in last week's game against the Falcons. Marquez Valdes-Scantling was the main beneficiary of the Saints' lack of receiving talent, catching three balls for 109 yards and two scores against Atlanta, while running back Alvin Kamara was the preferred option on short routes. In Week 11, MVS can be expected to remain the team's deep option and if Wilson shakes his questionable tag, Tipton will have a hard time commanding targets against him or Kamara. He can safely be left on the waiver wire.

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Mason Tipton vaulted to the front of the depth chart with all of the injuries to the receiving corps. In the Saints' Week 10 victory, it was Marquez Valdes-Scantling who took charge, not Tipton. The rookie out of Yale didn't see a single target and posted a goose egg for the week. He played the same amount of snaps as Valdes-Scantling at 29, but Derek Carr wasn't looking his way. Tipton will try to bounce back against the Cleveland Browns in Week 11.

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Mason Tipton suddenly finds himself at the top of the team's depth chart going into Week 10. Chris Olave (concussion) and Cedrick Wilson Jr. (shoulder) have both been declared out on the team's final injury report for their game against the Atlanta Falcons, paving the way for Tipton to step in as the Saints' WR1. What he does with the opportunity is another question. In the wake of Olave's early exit last Sunday, Tipton was targeted just three times and had zero catches despite being on the field for 78% of the team's offensive snaps. Tipton had close to an 80% snap share in the two previous weeks as well but saw little production. Over the last three weeks, the rookie out of Yale has eight catches on 14 targets for 59 receiving yards. It is hard to trust that Tipton will break out in Week 10 as there is little separating him from Marquez Valdes-Scantling or Jermaine Jackson. Looking like a WR5, Tipton can be on the wire in most leagues but makes for a dart-throw flex in deep leagues.

A week after leading his team in targets, New Orleans Saints wide receiver Mason Tipton drew just two in Week 8 against the Los Angeles Chargers and finished the game with two catches for 14 yards. With fellow rookie Bub Means (ankle) declared out and Cedrick Wilson Jr. (hip) tagged as questionable for Week 9, Tipton is suddenly next in line behind Chris Olave at wide receiver. Even with the dramatic jump up the depth chart, Tipton will be hard to trust against the lowly Carolina Panthers. The Saints' Week 1 blowout of their division rival featured the use of their running backs and tight ends, positions that the Panthers have continued to struggle against mightily. A similar game plan this time around would leave Tipton short on usage. He can be left on the wire in 12-team leagues in favor of players with more certain roles.

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Mason Tipton is coming off his best performance of the season. He hauled in six of his nine targets for 45 yards in the loss to the Denver Broncos. It was a surprisingly high workload for Tipton who hadn't finished with more than two receptions in any previous contests. It's worth noting that top wideout Chris Olave was sidelined last week, but is back now. That probably means that Tipton goes back to having a minimal role in the offense. Tipton is worth stashing in some dynasty formats, but isn't an ideal streaming option for the Week 8 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Mason Tipton could be in for an increased snap share in Week 7 with Chris Olave (concussion) and Rashid Shaheed (knee) both out. Tipton logged a season-high 41% share in Week 6 after Olave departed with his injury just three plays into the game. The extra run did not equate to a more productive day, however, and he finished with one catch for 15 yards on two targets. Unfortunately for Tipton, the Saints square off against the Denver Broncos on Thursday night. Denver has one of the stingiest defenses in the league this season and is allowing the fewest fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers. Despite the opportunity to see more time on the field, Tipton shouldn't be counted on as a fantasy asset.

New Orleans Saints rookie wide receiver Mason Tipton (hamstring) left Wednesday's practice early with a hamstring injury. The severity of the injury is unknown, but this certainly puts his chances of playing in the Saints preseason opener in jeopardy. Tipton has been a standout at camp thus far and is making his case for a roster spot. The Yale product is smaller in stature (5-foot-9) and never eclipsed 1,000 yards in a season during his tenure as a Bulldog. However, he did run a 4.33 40-yard dash, and New Orleans does not boast impressive depth at wide receiver. In fact, behind Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed (hamstring), this WR room is ripe for the taking. Tipton is nothing more than a late-round dart throw (NFFC ADP 331) or deep-league stash, but someone to monitor, considering the hype.

New Orleans Saints undrafted rookie wide receiver Mason Tipton has been routinely hauling in long passes and running by defenders early in training camp this summer. The 5-foot-11, 187-pound Yale product ran a 4.33-second 40-yard dash on his pro day and is slowly earning his teammates' respect. He caught 132 passes for 2,067 yards and 19 touchdowns in four seasons at Yale and is looking to separate himself from a list of receivers behind starters Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed that includes A.T. Perry, Cedric Wilson, Stanley Morgan Jr., Bub Means and Equanimeous St. Brown. "I think he's got the skill set," head coach Dennis Allen said. "He's a smaller player, but he's got some real good quickness and he's a savvy route runner. He's got some football awareness, and so I think he understands kind of how to play the position." For now, Tipton is merely a player to watch as we near preseason action.
