After tearing his Achilles in April 2023, Woods II earned a six-game suspension at the end of the 2023 season for a personal misconduct policy he served while on the NFI list. In 2024, Woods II contributed seven catches for 65 yards, despite playing behind a weak wide receiver depth chart that also suffered injuries. It's safe to say that the waiving of Woods II won't impact the Cleveland Browns, as he wasn't very high on the depth chart.

The 25-year-old had five catches for 45 yards and no touchdowns in his rookie campaign in 10 games, missed all of 2023 due to injury and caught just seven of 17 targets for 65 yards and no scores in only five games (two starts) in 2024. He missed the season finale last year with a knee injury that also caused him to miss some workouts this spring. Woods is going to need to stay healthy, but even if he does, he will probably be on the outside looking in for a starting spot behind Jerry Jeudy, Cedric Tillman and Diontae Johnson.

Woods did not play in the team's Week 18 regular-season finale last year against the Baltimore Ravens due to a knee injury, but the 25-year-old appears to be fully recovered and a full-go heading into the 2025 season this fall. The former sixth-rounder (202nd overall) in 2022 out of Oklahoma had only five catches for 45 yards in 10 games (no starts) in his rookie season in 2022, didn't play at all in 2023, and caught seven of 17 targets for 65 yards and no touchdowns in just five games (two starts) last season. The second-year wideout started seeing some playing time through the last five games and even registered a snap share of 86% in their game against the Dolphins. He has yet to post a finish better than WR56 in half-PPR formats, so he's not a recommended play if he does suit up. If he's sidelined, however, it could mean some more targets for Elijah Moore.

Woods apparently picked up a minor knee injury in the Week 17 loss to the Miami Dolphins in which he played 68 of the team's 79 offensive snaps on his way to just one reception for three yards on four targets. The 24-year-old should be able to suit up in the Week 18 regular-season finale against the division-rival Baltimore Ravens this Saturday and will have an elevated role again with Cedric Tillman (concussion) closing out the year on Injured Reserve. Despite what should be an expanded role in a good matchup, it's impossible to recommend Woods in any kind of fantasy format with the Browns expected to play both quarterbacks Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Bailey Zappe in a meaningless game for the team. Woods has only seven catches in five games in 2024.

The Browns will be without Cedric Tillman (concussion) for the third straight week. As a result, Woods should see more work on the field, but he doesn't offer great fantasy value. Over the last two games, Woods has four receptions for 55 yards and no scores. Possibly, Woods takes on a bigger role if tight end David Njoku (hamstring) is unable to go. At best, Woods is a desperation flex option in deep leagues for Week 15.

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Michael Woods II had a big night in his team's 37-33 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in preseason action on Saturday. Woods caught five of his nine targets for 53 yards and two touchdowns in the contest. The veteran wideout did his damage in the second half, catching both of his touchdowns from Tyler Huntley after halftime as he made a final push for a roster spot on Saturday. Woods wound up catching seven passes for 75 yards and two scores in preseason action for the Browns this year. If he doesn't make the Browns' final roster he could be a candidate to be added to the team's practice squad.
