Nick Westbrook-Ikhine News

Strong close to regular season

Westbrook-Ikhine recorded four receptions on five targets for 78 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-25 win over the Texans.

Analysis: Westbrook-Ikhine benefited from atypical passing volume as Ryan Tannehill took to the air 32 times. He made the most of his five targets, logging long receptions of 36 and 29 yards while also finding the end zone from four yards away to put the Titans up 21-0 just before halftime. Westbrook-Ikhine took a step forward in his second professional season, as he racked up 43 receptions for 554 yards and five touchdowns across 17 games.

On field, no production

Westbrook-Ikhine did not record a catch on two targets in Sunday's 34-3 win over Miami.

Analysis: Westbrook-Ikhine led the Titans' wide receivers in snaps, though he was shutout from the stat sheet. In part, that was due to the Titans' heavy reliance on their rushing attack given game script, though even when Ryan Tannehill took to the air he often targeted A.J. Brown as well as his backs and tight ends. Westbrook-Ikhine has had a few productive games through 17 weeks of the season, but he has failed to find the end zone or top 40 receiving in each of his last four games.

Returns from COVID list

Westbrook-Ikhine (illness) was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday.

Analysis: Westbrook-Ikhine landed on the virus list Monday but was quickly able to clear the health and safety protocols. Julio Jones (illness) remains on the COVID list, so Westbrook-Ikhine could serve as Tennessee's No. 2 wideout Sunday against the Dolphins if Jones remains out.

Lands on COVID list

Westbrook-Ikhine has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list by the Titans.

Analysis: As was fellow wideout Julio Jones, and until one or both are able to clear COVID protocols, A.J. Brown and Chester Rogers are currently the Titans' top available options at the position.

Pair of catches

Westbrook-Ikhine recorded two receptions on three targets for 38 yards in Thursday's 20-17 win over San Francisco.

Analysis: Westbrook-Ikhine appeared to be in danger of slipping down the depth chart with both A.J. Brown and Julio Jones on the field. However, he finished second among the team's wide receivers in snap rate and was one of only four pass catchers to record multiple receptions. Despite a relatively strong role in the offense, Westbrook-Ikhine has failed to top 40 receiving yards in each of his last four games.

Takes over as top wideout

Westbrook-Ikhine recorded four receptions on seven targets for 32 yards in Sunday's 19-13 loss to Pittsburgh.

Analysis: Westbrook-Ikhine's production was hardly notable, though he still led the team in targets and yardage. His longest gain of the game was a 12-yard catch -- the second-longest completion of the day for Tennessee. Looking ahead, Westbrook-Ikhine should maintain a role in the passing attack as Julio Jones aggravated the hamstring injury that has plagued him all season. A.J. Brown (chest) will be eligible to return from injured reserve for the team's Week 16 matchup against the 49ers, though there's no indication yet that he will do so. That said, it's hard to rely heavily on any Tennessee pass catcher at this point given that stagnant state of its offense.

Tallies three receptions

Westbrook-Ikhine recorded three receptions on three targets for 31 yards in Sunday's 20-0 win over the Jaguars.

Analysis: Westbrook-Ikhine lost some volume due to the return of Julio Jones, though he still finished second among the team's wide receivers in targets. Though he converted each for a catch, Westbrook-Ikhine largely worked in the short areas of the field with his longest gain going for 15 yards. He may have the chance to produce in a Week 15 matchup at Pittsburgh, as the game is likely to be more competitive and A.J. Brown (chest) will also remain sidelined.

Scores in lopsided loss

Westbrook-Ikhine brought in two of five targets for 25 yards and a touchdown in the Titans' 36-13 loss to the Patriots on Sunday.

Analysis: Westbrook-Ikhine, along with Chester Rogers, was the most accomplished receiver on the field for the Titans on Sunday, an he was able to salvage his day from a fantasy perspective with a one-yard touchdown grab early in the second quarter. The second-year wideout should once again be relied on heavily during a Week 14 matchup against the Jaguars following a Week 13 bye.

Another chance to produce

Westbrook-Ikhine will have an expanded role in Sunday's game against the Patriots, Jelani Scott of NFL.com reports.

Analysis: The Titans will be without A.J. Brown (chest), Julio Jones (hamstring) and Marcus Johnson (hamstring), paving the path for Westbrook-Ikhine to maintain an expanded role. With Jones sidelined and both Brown and Johnson suffering injuries during the team's Week 11 matchup against Houston, Westbrook-Ikhine posted seven receptions for 107 yards. Though New England poses a far more difficult defensive matchup, Westbrook-Ikhine should be in for a healthy dose of targets once again.

Steps into expanded role

Westbrook-Ikhine recorded seven receptions on eight targets for 107 yards in Sunday's 22-13 loss to the Texans.

Analysis: Westbrook-Ikhine was aided by the early exit of Marcus Johnson (hamstring) and a pair of injuries that A.J. Brown (chest/finger) suffered. As a result, he led the team in receptions and yards, with his primary production coming on a 46-yard catch early in the fourth quarter. He also chipped in receptions of 16 and 14 yards to record the first 100-yard game of his career. If the Titans' wide receiver corps remains banged up for a Week 12 matchup against New England, Westbrook-Ikhine could maintain a key role in Tennessee's offense.

Another quiet performance

Westbrook-Ikhine recorded one catch on one target for 10 yards in Sunday's 23-21 win over the Saints.

Analysis: Westbrook-Ikhine had the chance to increase his role in the absence of Julio Jones (hamstring), but he was outplayed by Marcus Johnson. Westbrook-Ikhine has now failed to surpass 20 receiving yards in seven of his 10 games this season and in four consecutive contests.

Nov 15, 2021 8:03 AM EST

Totals 14 yards

Westbrook-Ikhine recorded one reception on one target for 14 yards in Sunday's 28-16 win over the Rams.

Analysis: Westbrook-Ikhine saw only one target, with each of A.J. Brown, Julio Jones and Geoff Swaim carrying a more significant role as pass catchers. However, Westbrook-Ikhine did narrowly out-snap both Chester Rogers and Marcus Johnson, meaning he could step into a bigger role should either Brown or Jones be sidelined at any point moving forward.

Finds end zone

Westbrook-Ikhine recorded two receptions on three targets for 16 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-31 win over the Colts.

Analysis: Westbrook-Ikhine saw an increased role in the absence of Julio Jones (hamstring), though A.J. Brown dominated targets. Westbrook-Ikhine did manage to contribute meaningfully to the win by hauling in a five-yard touchdown midway through the third quarter. Should Jones miss game action moving forward, Westbrook-Ikhine could maintain a role in the offense, though he appears to be buried on the depth chart behind other peripheral options such as Marcus Johnson.

Tallies three catches

Westbrook-Ikhine recorded three receptions on three targets for 27 yards in Monday's 34-31 win against Buffalo.

Analysis: Westbrook-Ikhine made all three of his catches on a single drive in the fourth quarter. The most important was an eight-yard reception that converted a third down deep in Buffalo territory, and the Titans went on to score the game-winning touchdown two plays later. Westbrook-Ikhine could be in line for an increased role in Week 7 if Julio Jones (hamstring) is unable to play.

Practices fully

Westbrook-Ikhine (hamstring) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis: Though his hamstring injury prevented him from playing in last week's win over the Jaguars, Westbrook-Ikhine should be good to go Monday against Buffalo after opening Week 6 prep as a full participant. Unfortunately for Westbrook-Ikhine, Julio Jones and A.J. Brown were also full participants Thursday after recently contending with their own hamstring injuries, so Tennessee should have its two receivers available for the first time together since Week 3. Even if Westbrook-Ikhine supplants the banged-up Chester Rogers (groin) as Tennessee's No. 3 wideout Monday, there likely won't be enough targets for him to deliver a useful fantasy line.

Not playing Sunday

Westbrook-Ikhine (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

Analysis: Tennessee will be down two of its top five wideouts due to hamstring injuries, as Julio Jones is also inactive. Jones' absence is more noteworthy than Westbrook-Ikhine's, but the second-year wideout out of Indiana had emerged a useful complementary piece in the Tennessee passing attack, recording nine receptions for 98 yards and a touchdown on 15 targets through the team's first four games. With Jones and Westbrook out, the likes of Chester Rogers, Josh Reynolds and Marcus Johnson are expected to rotate in on three-receiver sets alongside No. 1 option A.J. Brown.

Deemed questionable for Week 5

Westbrook-Ikhine (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

Analysis: Westbrook-Ikhine steadily increased his practice activity throughout the week, advancing from no participation in Wednesday's session to full participation Friday. While he ultimately wasn't able to enter the weekend without a designation, Westbrook-Ikhine ability to take every rep Friday likely suggests he'll avoid the Titans' inactive list, which will be released 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff. If he dresses for the contest, Westbrook-Ikhine should rotate in with Josh Reynolds and Chester Rogers alongside top option A.J. Brown in three-receiver sets while Julio Jones (hamstring) misses a second straight game.

Reps capped Thursday

Westbrook-Ikhine (hamstring) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

Analysis: Among the Titans' three wideouts tending to hamstring injuries, Westbrook-Ikhine and A.J. Brown took limited reps in the team's second practice of Week 5, while Julio Jones remained sidelined. At this stage, Jones could be trending toward a second straight absence Sunday in Jacksonville, which could allow Westbrook-Ikhine to retain a spot in the starting lineup if both he and Brown are able to play. While Brown and Jones were both sidelined in the Week 4 overtime loss to the Jets, Westbrook-Ikhine played 82 percent of the offensive snaps and finished with three receptions for 29 yards on eight targets.

Dealing with hamstring issue

Westbrook-Ikhine (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

Analysis: Nor did fellow WR Julio Jones (hamstring), while A.J. Brown (hamstring) returned to a limited practice Wednesday. Assuming Westbrook-Ikhine moves past his hamstring issue in advance of Sunday's game against the Jaguars, his Week 5 fantasy prospects remain tied to the availability of Jones and Brown, the Titans' top two wideouts, when healthy.

Oct 6, 2021 2:47 PM EST

Falls short of expectations

Westbrook-Ikhine recorded three receptions on eight targets for 29 yards in Sunday's Week 4 loss to the Jets.

Analysis: Westbrook-Ikhine popped onto the fantasy radar after his Week 3 performance and was expected to maintain an increased role with both A.J. Brown (hamstring) and Julio Jones (hamstring) absent. However, despite finishing third on the team with eight targets, Westbrook-Ikhine was held in check and averaged only 3.6 yards per target. While no receiver was particularly impressive, both Josh Reynolds and Chester Rogers showcased superior rapport with quarterback Ryan Tannehill. Even so, Westbrook-Ikhine will have the chance to redeem himself in a Week 5 matchup against the Jaguars if Brown and Jones remain sidelined.
