Let go Friday

Williams (undisclosed) was released from San Francisco's injured reserve with an injury settlement Friday, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Analysis: Williams' injury is unclear in nature, but it's seemingly serious enough to have landed him on injured reserve Saturday. The 28-year-old was competing for a depth role in the Niners' receiving corps, but now he'll have to focus on getting healthy and finding a new opportunity elsewhere.

Williams (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, per the league's official transactions report.

Joining 49ers

Williams agreed to a deal with the 49ers on Tuesday.

Analysis: Williams, an undrafted free agent in 2013, has played for a plethora of teams since. From the Redskins, to the Falcons, Titans, and Rams he has recorded just 280 yards on 30 receptions in 26 games. He had been with the Broncos for training camp, but was recently let go. The journeyman will now look to make an impression in a small period of time at San Francisco's camp.

Let go by Broncos

The Broncos released Williams on Monday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic reports.

Analysis: Williams originally signed with Denver on July 26 after appearing in two games last season for the Rams. The 28-year-old hasn't been able to play in more than two games in a season since the 2015 campaign, where he caught 17 passes for 159 yards and two touchdowns for the Falcons.

Links up with Denver

Williams signed a contract with the Broncos on Friday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Analysis: Williams was let go by the Rams in November and was unable to find a home in free agency until now. The 28-year-old hasn't played in more than two games in a season since 2015.

Let go by Rams

Williams was waived by the Rams on Friday, Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Analysis: Williams joined the Rams in mid-October but hasn't been active for a game since Week 8 against Green Bay. Aqib Talib (ankle) was activated off injured reserve to take his place on the 53-man roster.

Collects first receptions on 2018

Williams caught both of his targets for 17 yards during Sunday's 39-10 win over San Francisco. He played 10 of 61 offensive snaps.

Analysis: Just signed to the team Tuesday, Williams leapfrogged a few Rams on the depth chart and took advantage of his limited playing time Sunday. He caught his passes in the second and third quarters, so his involvement in the vertical attack wasn't in garbage time, either. Still, the 27-year-old receiver is a long shot to make a notable impact and is off the fantasy radar in the majority of settings.

Signs with Rams

Williams signed with the Rams on Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Analysis: With Cooper Kupp (knee) not expected to play in Sunday's game against the 49ers, the Rams will bring in Williams to shore up the depth at wide receiver. Williams was most recently released by the Titans a week ago after dropping a crucial pass in the team's loss to Buffalo. He likely won't play too large of a role in the Rams' passing game this weekend.

Gets cut after costly drop

The Titans released Williams on Tuesday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports.

Analysis: Williams was dropped from the 53-man roster just two days after dropping his lone target in Sunday's 12-9 loss to the Bills that likely cost the Titans a touchdown. After being cut by the Titans after the preseason concluded, Williams re-signed with the team in September, appearing in two contests and seeing most of his action on special teams.

Inks deal with Tennessee

Williams signed with the Titans on Monday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports.

Analysis: Williams had been impressive throughout Tennessee's training camp earlier this year but was let go as a victim of the numbers game. It's unlikely the Titans will ask much of Williams from an offensive standpoint, but the veteran wideout has a potential role waiting for him on special teams.

Waived by Tennessee

Williams (hamstring) was waived by the Titans on Saturday, Travis Haney of The Athletic Nashville reports.

Analysis: Williams played well in the preseason and was a candidate for a depth receiver and special teams role prior to his injury last week. He'll become a free agent if he clears waivers.

Suffers hamstring injury

Williams sustained a hamstring injury during Saturday's preseason game against the Steelers, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

Analysis: Williams was listed questionable to return after he pulled up grabbing his left hamstring while covering a punt, and there was no indication he returned to the field. The severity of the injury remains unclear as the 28-year-old attempts to secure a spot on the 53-man roster.

Working as No. 3 receiver

Williams has been working as the No. 3 receiver in practice, ESPN.com's Turron Davenport reports.

Analysis: The 27-year-old wide receiver has caught 28 passes in 22 NFL games, with most of his production coming in 2015 for the Falcons. He'll likely get pushed out of the first-team offense once Rishard Matthews (undisclosed) starts practicing, but this is at least a sign that Williams has a decent shot to make the 53-man roster. He's competing with Darius Jennings, Deontay Burnett and a slew of other players for one or two jobs at the bottom of the depth chart.
