No carries with Seahawks

Turbin didn't record a carry over three games -- two in the postseason -- with the Seahawks.

Analysis: Turbin signed with the team after Chris Carson (hip), Rashaad Penny (knee) and C.J. Prosise (arm) were ruled out for the season, but it was Marshawn Lynch and rookie Travis Homer who led the backfield the rest of the way. The 30-year-old Turbin only played two games in 2018 with the Colts as well, and he'll be an unrestricted free agent in March.

No offensive tread

Turbin didn't play an offensive snap in Sunday's 26-21 loss to the 49ers.

Analysis: Turbin was brought in to add depth to a depleted Seahawks backfield, but rookie Travis Homer and Marshawn Lynch were the only running backs to get any tread. This isn't surprising since Turbin hasn't played since last season when he totaled just four carries over two games with the Colts. Considering Homer and Lynch were both solid in their own right, Turbin likely will stick to special teams in the wild-card round Sunday in Philadelphia.

Expected to be active

Coach Pete Caroll said Turbin and Marshawn Lynch will play in Sunday's game against the 49ers, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis: Carroll didn't elaborate on how backfield snaps and touches might be divided. Travis Homer should probably be viewed as the favorite to lead the team in carries, but it won't come as any huge surprise if the veterans also get involved. Neither Turbin nor Lynch had spent time with an NFL team in 2019 prior to signing with Seattle this week.

Added to Seahawks roster

Turbin signed with the Seahawks on Tuesday.

Analysis: Turbin was expected to sign with the Seahawks, and he did just that on Tuesday. Seattle's running back situation is in flux with Turbin, Marshawn Lynch, and Travis Homer the team's only healthy ball carriers, so it remains to be seen what type of role Turbin will play in Week 17 and into the postseason.

Expected to sign with Seahawks

Turbin is expected to sign with the Seahawks, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Analysis: Turbin will reunite with his former team, where he rushed for 928 yards across three seasons. The 30-year-old figures to play an immediate role after Chris Carson (hip) and C.J. Prosise (arm) both suffered season-ending injuries Sunday. However, the Seahawks are still pursuing bringing back Marshawn Lynch as well, which could impact the amount of reps Turbin receives.

Visiting with Seattle

Turbin is expected to visit with the Seahawks on Monday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Analysis: The Seahawks need immediate reinforcements in their backfield after Chris Carson (hip) and C.J. Prosise (arm) both suffered season-ending injuries in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals. Rookie sixth-round pick Travis Homer is the only remaining running back, but rumors have surfaced that Marshawn Lynch could return to Seattle as well. Turbin -- who the Seahawks picked in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft -- has limited fantasy upside if he reaches a deal, especially if Lynch does as well.

Working out for Oakland

Turbin has a workout scheduled for Thursday with the Raiders, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Analysis: This is the first report of any interest since Turbin was waived by the Colts on Nov. 9. The 29-year-old running back opened the 2018 campaign with a four-game suspension and suffered a shoulder dislocation shortly thereafter. He should be healthy at this point in the offseason, but he'll need to contribute on special teams to earn a spot at the back end of a 53-man roster. Turbin has a long gain of just 26 yards on 355 career carries, averaging 3.8 yards per attempt with nine touchdowns along the way.

Waived by Colts

Turbin (shoulder) was released by the Colts on Friday.

Analysis: Turbin's release comes as a bit of a surprise, considering he seemed to be recovering well from the shoulder injury he sustained in Week 6 against the Jets. Week 5 was the only other game Turbin played in this season -- after missing the first four games due to suspension -- and he received just nine snaps on offense and didn't log any carries.

Back at practice

Turbin (shoulder) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.

Analysis: Turbin was limited in practice to begin the week, but his full participation Thursday suggests a full recovery from a dislocated shoulder sustained in Week 6. The veteran running back appears on track for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, and will serve as a depth option behind Marlon Mack (ankle) and Nyheim Hines.

Limited in practice Wednesday

Turbin (shoulder) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.

Analysis: Turbin continues to nurse a dislocated shoulder suffered during a Week 6 loss to the Jets. The veteran's limited participation in practice suggests that he made some progress in his recovery during Indianapolis' bye week, but Turbin should still be considered questionable for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.

Returns to practice

Turbin (shoulder) returned to practice Monday, George Bremer of The Anderson Herald Bulletin reports.

Analysis: Turbin hasn't played since Week 6, when he dislocated his shoulder against the Jets. His return to the practice field is an encouraging sign and suggests he may be able to play against the Jaguars in Week 10.

May practice next week

Running backs coach Tom Rathman said Tuesday that the Colts are hopeful Turbin (shoulder) returns to practice as early as next week, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports.

Analysis: Turbin opened the season with a four-game suspension for a violation of the policy on performance-enhancing drugs and only lasted two games before dislocating his shoulder Week 6 against the Jets. With the Colts on bye this week, it appears Turbin will attempt to give it a go next week with an eye on an appearance Nov. 11 versus the Jaguars.

Sidelined this week

Turbin (shoulder) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Raiders, Zak Keefer of The Indianapolis Star reports.

Analysis: Down the road, Turbin could potentially help out the Colts in goal-line or short-yardage situations. For now though, the return of Marlon Mack to the mix has solidified the top of the team's backfield, with Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins on hand to work in change-of-pace/reserve roles.

Recovering from dislocated shoulder

Turbin, who missed practice Wednesday, is bouncing back from a dislocated shoulder, Zak Keefer of The Indianapolis Star reports.

Analysis: While the running back hasn't yet been officially ruled out for Sunday's game against the Raiders, a return to practice after the the Colts' Week 9 bye seems like a plausible scenario. While Turbin could make his mark down the stretch in goal-line or short-yardage situations, the return of Marlon Mack to the mix has solidified the top of the team's backfield for now.

Sidelined for Week 7

Turbin (shoulder) is listed as out for Sunday's game against the Bills.

Analysis: Turbin was unable to practice at any point this week, making it an easy decision for the Colts to rule him out for the Week 7 matchup. Once he's cleared to return from the shoulder injury, Turbin may have difficulty earning work out of the Indianapolis backfield with Marlon Mack and Nyheim Hines seemingly emerging as coach Frank Reich's preferred ballcarrier and pass-catching option, respectively.

Doesn't practice Thursday

Turbin (shoulder) isn't participating in Thursday's practice, Kevin Bowen of 1070 The Fan Indianapolis reports.

Analysis: Turbin has opened Week 7 preparations with back-to-back absences from practice, making it uncertain if he'll be available for Sunday's game against the Bills. Even if he suits up, Turbin seems destined to fill a low-usage role behind Marlon Mack and Nyheim Hines. Turbin acted as the Colts' clear top runner in the Week 6 loss to the Jets (12 carries for 89 yards), while Hines handled most of the backfield snaps on passing downs.

Oct 18, 2018 10:45 AM EST

Not practicing Wednesday

Turbin (shoulder) was absent from practice Wednesday, Kevin Bowen of 1070 The Fan Indianapolis reports.

Analysis: Turbin's Week 7 status is cloudy at this stage, but in any case his fantasy upside is limited by the fact that Marlon Mack reclaimed his spot atop the Colts' running back depth chart upon his return to action in Week 6's 42-34 loss to the Jets.

Oct 17, 2018 10:28 AM EST

Won't return Sunday

Turbin (shoulder) will not return to Sunday's game against the Jets, Mike Wells of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis: Turbin sustained the injury on a second-quarter carry on which he lost a fumble. Marlon Mack, Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins remain as the Colts' backfield options in New York.

Oct 14, 2018 11:34 AM EST

Suffers shoulder injury

Turbin was forced out of Sunday's game against the Jets with a shoulder injury.

Analysis: With Turbin out of the game, the Colts' backfield will now have Marlon Mack, Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins to turn to Sunday.

Oct 14, 2018 11:17 AM EST

Plays just nine snaps

Turbin played nine snaps on offense, but did not have a carry or pass thrown his way in Thursday's loss at New England.

Analysis: Turbin missed the first four games due to a suspension. He may be eased into action, but this could also be a sign he'll have a limited goal-line role.
