The Ravens cut Grimble from the practice squad Friday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: This leaves just Luke Willson and Sean Culkin as the practice squad tight ends, and both players may be called up following news that Nick Boyle (knee) is done for the year. Grimble will seek another practice squad role elsewhere. He hasn't played an NFL game since Week 3 of 2019.

Grimble (undisclosed) was restored to the Ravens' practice squad from the injured list Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Grimble was moved to the practice squad injured list in late September due to the unspecified injury, but he's now back on Baltimore's practice squad after taking the past six weeks to recover. Grimble appeared three games for the Steelers last year and caught one pass for three yards.

The Ravens placed Grimble (undisclosed) on the practice squad injured list Tuesday, Daniel Oyefusi of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Analysis: It's unclear what Grimble is dealing with, but the Ravens signed Sean Culkin to the practice squad to fill Grimble's spot.

The Colts cut Grimble from the practice squad Tuesday.
Analysis: Grimble spent the offseason in Indianapolis, and he was initially linked to the practice squad following the conclusion of roster cuts. He'll be replaced by fellow tight end Charlie Taumoepeau.

Grimble (undisclosed) returned to practice Friday, Andrew Walker of the Colts' official site reports.
Analysis: Grimble missed over a week of practice with this mystery injury, but he's ready to compete for a depth role once again. The top-two spots are locked up between Jack Doyle and Trey Burton, and Grimble will compete with Mo Alie-Cox for the No. 3 role in Indianapolis.

Grimble (undisclosed) didn't participate in Tuesday's practice, Joel A. Erickson of the Indianapolis Star reports.
Analysis: Grimble has served in a run-blocking role since he entered the league in 2016. He tried out with the Colts last November and didn't make the team, so he's far from a lock to make the team in 2020.
Aug 18, 2020 4:52 PM EST
Grimble signed a reserve/future contract with the Colts on Monday.
Analysis: Grimble had a workout with the Colts in mid-November but never actually ended up signing with the team, but he'll now be with Indianapolis for the beginning of offseason work. The 27-year-old caught 23 passes for 239 yards and three touchdowns in 47 games with the Steelers before being released off injured reserve in October.

Grimble worked out for the Colts recently, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Grimble was released off injured reserve by the Steelers in early October. The Colts could use tight end depth as only Jack Doyle is healthy at the moment.

Grimble (calf) reached an injury settlement with the Steelers on Friday per the NFL communication's official transaction report.
Analysis: Grimble was placed on injured reserve prior to the Steelers' Week 4 victory over the Bengals. It appears the injury was not all that serious, and he will now be free to look for a new opportunity.

Grimble (calf) has been placed on IR.
Analysis: Grimble, who logged one catch for three yards over Pittsburgh's first three games, suffered a calf injury this past Sunday against the 49ers. It's a severe enough issue for him to land on IR, a move made in conjunction with the team's acquisition of fellow tight end Nick Vennett.

Coach Mike Tomlin said Wednesday that he considers Grimble "questionable" for Monday's game against the Bengals, Dale Lolley of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
Analysis: Grimble appears to be managing an undisclosed injury, which Thursday's first official injury report of the week should shed some light on. With Vance McDonald (shoulder) also nursing an injury, it's possible that Grimble could receive increased snaps versus Cincinnati if he's able to get healthy.

Grimble caught one of two targets for three yards in Sunday's 24-20 loss to San Francisco.
Analysis: The backup tight end has only seen four targets through three games but Vance McDonald (shoulder) was forced from the game, which could result in a larger role for Grimble in Week 4 against the Bengals.
Sep 22, 2019 10:26 PM EST
Grimble was targeted during Sunday's 28-26 loss to Seattle, but did not record a catch.
Analysis: With Jesse James now in Detroit, 2019 was supposed to be an opportunity for Grimble to take a step in his development. It hasn't worked out that way, with just one target on a suddenly 0-2 Steelers squad. Grimble's opportunity to grow in his new TE2 role took a hit with Ben Roethlisberger's season-ending elbow surgery. Now the passing attack will rely on sophomore Mason Rudolph, who struggled but had his moments in relief Sunday.

Grimble got the start and caught one of three targets for 13 yards in Saturday's preseason win over Kansas City.
Analysis: Pittsburgh opened in a two-TE formation with both Grimble and Vance McDonald on the field. There's no question the latter will serve as the team's top pass catcher at tight end, but that also was the case last season when Jesse James had 39 targets and 573 snaps. Of course, there's no guarantee Grimble takes all of the vacated workload, as the Steelers instead could give McDonald more run or use rookie Zach Gentry in a reserve role. In any case, Grimble didn't help his cause Saturday night, with his one catch overshadowed by a terrible drop of a perfect pass over the middle.

Grimble sustained an undisclosed injury during Monday's practice, Dale Lolley of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
Analysis: Grimble was reportedly examined my trainers near the end of Monday's practice. The 26-year-old tight end's injury remains undisclosed. If Grimble were to remain sidelined for a significant amount of time, Zach Gentry and Kevin Rader could see an uptick in reps.

Grimble signed his original round tender with the Steelers on Tuesday.
Analysis: This will keep Grimble under Steelers' control for another season. He was used mainly in a blocking and special-teams role, as Grimble caught just six passes for 86 yards and zero touchdowns through 16 games. Grimble could see more action in 2019, however, since Jesse James signed with Detroit and only Vance McDonald remains above him on the depth chart.
Apr 16, 2019 5:43 PM EST
The Steelers are placing an original round tender on Grimble, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Grimble will be allowed to negotiate with teams during free agency, but the Steelers will have the option to match any deal offered. If he does leave, the team will not receive any draft compensation. The 26-year-old has compiled 236 yards and three touchdowns across three seasons in Pittsburgh.
Mar 5, 2019 6:33 PM EST
Grimble caught his lone target for 16 yards during Sunday's 16-13 win over Cincinnati.
Analysis: Despite playing in all 16 games this season Grimble managed just six catches (on eight targets) for 86 yards. The eight targets were the fewest he has seen in his three seasons but his 14.3 yards per catch were a career high. A restricted free agent, Grimble could return to Pittsburgh in 2019 and possibly pass Jesse James -- an unrestricted free agent -- on the depth chart behind Vance McDonald.
Jan 1, 2019 10:35 AM EST
Grimble failed to catch his lone target during Sunday's 31-28 loss to New Orleans.
Analysis: The backup tight end has just five catches on seven targets this season, so he shouldn't be counted on in Week 17 despite facing a Cincinnati defense that which allows the fourth most fantasy points to tight ends per game (10.4).
Dec 23, 2018 10:39 PM EST
Grimble (concussion) cleared the concussion protocol Wednesday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: Grimble managed to clear the league-mandated concussion protocol with time to spare for Week 13, and was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. The depth tight end is on track to suit up against the Chargers on Sunday, but Grimble is unlikely to see notable targets behind Vance McDonald and Jesse James.
