Aaron Jones Sr. Set for Familiar Role in 2026?

Saturday, March 28, 9:06 AM

Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones Sr. could find himself in a familiar role next season. The Vikings re-signed Jones to share the backfield with Jordan Mason, creating a similar dynamic to last year. The 31-year-old was a low-end RB2 when healthy, but he missed five full games due to injury and exited others early. As a result, he finished the regular season with a modest 548 rushing yards, 199 receiving yards, and three total touchdowns. The Vikings have gradually gotten Mason more involved, while Jones' age and injuries have resulted in him handling fewer touches. He's still going to get rushing yards, receiving yards, and touchdowns -- just not nearly as much as during the peak of his career. The good news for Jones is that his return indicates it should just be him and Mason in the backfield, and the Vikings won't make any splashes at the running back position in free agency or the draft. Still, Jones' days as an every-down back and fantasy RB1 are over. He's falling to the RB3/flex tier for 2026.

D'Andre Swift Facing Playing Time Questions Heading into 2026

Monday, March 23, 10:59 AM

Chicago Bears running back D'Andre Swift posted another solid statistical season in 2025, recording 1,386 scrimmage yards and 10 touchdowns on 257 touches across 16 games. The 27-year-old may not offer incredible upside, but he's provided fantasy managers with extremely stable production in recent seasons. Dating back to 2023, Swift has played at least 16 games and recorded over 1,200 scrimmage yards with at least six touchdowns in three consecutive years. However, Swift may not be assured of the RB1 role in Chicago heading into 2026. Fellow Bears running back Kyle Monangai emerged as a trusted contributor in the team's backfield over the course of 2025. Across the team's final seven games of the regular season, neither Swift nor Monangai played more than 59% or fewer than 41% of the team's offensive snaps. A seventh-round pick in 2025, Monangai could be the team's running back of the future, while Swift will hit free agency at the conclusion of the 2026 season. Swift could easily remain a low-end starting fantasy running back in 2026, but he now faces role and playing time questions that were not present in prior years of his career.
