Brandin Cooks and Saints Part Ways

Wednesday, November 19, 2:34 PM

The New Orleans Saints released wide receiver Brandin Cooks on Wednesday, giving the veteran a chance to land elsewhere. The 32-year-old pass catcher has recorded just 19 receptions this season for 165 yards despite appearing in every game. The departure of Cooks opens the door for Devaughn Vele and Mason Tipton to see expanded roles behind Chris Olave in the Saints' wide receiver room. Vele grabbed an 87% snap share last week, despite converting just one of three targets for 15 yards. Look for the Saints to heavily lean on Olave and running back Alvin Kamara as rookie quarterback Tyler Shough builds his confidence in just his third career start Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons

Darius Slayton to be Limited on Thursday

Thursday, November 20, 5:25 PM

New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton (hamstring) was upgraded to a limited practice on Thursday as he battles through a hamstring injury, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN. After missing practice on Wednesday, Slayton now has a chance to play on Sunday against the Detroit Lions. This is the first time that Slayton will be back at practice since he injured his hamstring in Week 10. The 28-year-old did not play in last Sunday's loss to the Green Bay Packers. He might need to upgrade to a full practice on Friday to avoid a questionable tag heading into Sunday's game on the road against the Lions. If Slayton can return this weekend, he'll be in play as a flex option for fantasy managers for a Giants team that could be getting rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart back from a concussion. Slayton has yet to score in 2025, but he should see a healthy dose of targets if he plays in a Week 12 matchup that should force the Giants to the air often. He has a 23-343-0 line in eight games this season.
