Curtis Samuel Listed As DNP Monday

Monday, October 2, 6:35 PM

Washington Commanders wide receiver Curtis Samuel (quadriceps) was listed as a non-participant on the team's estimated injury report on Monday after their walkthrough session. Samuel apparently was injured in the Week 4 overtime loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, when he caught seven passes for 51 yards and also had a one-yard touchdown run. The 27-year-old's status for Thursday night's tilt against the Chicago Bears is now in question. It's a great matchup this week if Samuel is able to play, but even then, he has a low weekly ceiling and floor while operating behind Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson (ankle). In four games this year, Samuel has 17 receptions for 178 yards and the rushing TD. If Samuel doesn't play Thursday, Dyami Brown and Jamison Crowder would battle for more targets.

Chris Godwin Hauls In Eight Receptions

Sunday, October 1, 7:40 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin made the most of his chances during the Week 4 matchup against the New Orleans Saints. Heading into this game, Godwin has been mainly an afterthought in this offense. However, fellow wide receiver Mike Evans (hamstring) was forced to exit early during this game. His absence made Godwin the centerpiece of this passing attack. He finished the game with eight receptions on 11 targets for 114 yards in the win. The Bucs have a bye next week, so hopefully Evans will be ready to go in time for the Week 6 matchup versus the Detroit Lions. Otherwise, Godwin will likely see an increase in usage if Evans misses time.
