David Njoku Helping to Unlock Chargers Offense

Monday, August 3, 6:49 AM

The Los Angeles Chargers' new-look offense is thriving in the early days of training camp, and one of the reasons, as pointed out by Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, is the addition of tight end David Njoku and the improvements made to the position as a whole. Veteran Charlie Kolar was an early free agent signing, and as expected, he has been used primarily as an inline blocking tight end throughout the early days of training camp. With Njoku signing later in the process, there were questions about how his usage would impact second-year player Oronde Gadsden II, and Breer mentions that the former first-round pick of the Browns was brought in to play the F or "move" tight end position. A split between Njoku and Gadsden in that role could make both difficult to consistently trust for fantasy production, making any information coming out of camp all the more important. While that situation has pushed the veteran down to TE24 by current ADP, Gadsden is going around TE18, still in a range where some of the other available options appear to provide more certainty but a lower ceiling.

Eli Stowers News

Eli Stowers Not Seeing Regular Work with First-Team Offense

Saturday, August 1, 5:51 AM

Philadelphia Eagles rookie tight end Eli Stowers suffered a minor injury in the spring that limited his participation in minicamp practices, and while he's come into training camp without restriction, Eagles beat reporter Jeff McLane reports that he's still had a quiet start to the summer. With Dallas Goedert firmly entrenched atop the depth chart, most of Stowers' reps have come with the second-team offense, working primarily with quarterbacks Andy Dalton and Tanner McKee, with rookie Cole Payton occasionally mixing in as well. McLane points out that Stowers has had his moments, but he is not yet seeing regular work with the first-team offense like fellow rookie Makai Lemon. Tight end can often require the greatest adjustment from college to the NFL, and Eagles training camp is less than a week old. Still, fantasy managers are no doubt looking for signs of encouragement from a player who was frequently the second tight end selected in 2026 dynasty rookie drafts.
