Titans Hope to Balance Rushing Attack With Tony Pollard, Tyjae Spears

Thursday, July 10, 1:06 PM

Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan is hoping for a more balanced approach to the running game in 2025 between running backs Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears, writes ESPN's Turron Davenport. Pollard had a career-high 260 carries -- more than twice as many as Spears -- and gained 1,079 yards on the ground in 2024. "In a perfect world, it's a healthier division of labor [between Pollard and Spears]," Callahan said. Spears was expected to contribute much more alongside Pollard last year, but he missed five games due to a concussion, ankle sprain and hamstring injury. Some of the Titans' distribution in the backfield in 2025 will include either Julius Chestnut or rookie Kalel Mullings. Pollard has never been more efficient than when he shared the load with Ezekiel Elliott in Dallas, but an inevitable drop in workload this year means fantasy managers need to target him as an RB2 and not as an RB1.

Jaydon Blue Gets Work With First-Team Offense on Wednesday

Wednesday, July 30, 5:16 PM

Dallas Cowboys rookie running back Jaydon Blue saw his first decent run with the first-team offense at training camp practice on Wednesday, according to Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. There was a report that surfaced before the start of camp suggesting that Blue was "borderline lazy," but he has so far dispelled that narrative this summer and has impressed head coach Brian Schottenheimer with his "dynamic playmaking ability." Things are going well for the 21-year-old back early on, but the fact remains that veterans Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders will both likely be positioned ahead of him in the backfield pecking order to begin the 2025 season. He's also small at 5-foot-9 and 196 pounds, so it's unlikely that Blue will ever be a bell-cow back in the NFL. However, the fifth-rounder could push for a pass-catching role in Dallas sooner than later in his rookie season.
