The New Orleans Saints have signed free-agent wide receiver Velus Jones Jr. to a one-year deal. Jones is a former third-round pick of the Chicago Bears from 2022. He was never able to make much of an impact in Chicago and was waived by the team in October. Jones finished out last season with the Carolina Panthers, but he didn't see much of the field over there. He'll compete for a spot on the 53-man roster in training camp and could serve as a depth option or kick returner if he's able to make the team.

The New Orleans Saints have traded linebacker Deion Jones to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for running back Zamir White. White was signed by the 49ers less than two weeks ago after injuries to running backs Christian McCaffrey (rest), Jordan James (ribs), and Kaelon Black (groin). With all three backs practicing on Sunday, White was sent to New Orleans, which has its own injury issues. Veteran running back Alvin Kamara (knee) is expected to miss some time, and Devin Neal (hamstring) was injured during the 49ers' Saturday preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams. While this could be another camp body for the Saints, it doesn't bode well for Neal, who has dealt with multiple injuries throughout training camp.
