The Jets signed Montgomery to a reserve/future contract Monday.
Analysis: The Austin Peay standout didn't receive any game opportunities with New York after joining the team off waivers Aug. 30. Initially an undrafted free agent signing of the Browns in 2019, the 24-year-old remains devoid of an NFL regular-season appearance. Montgomery dealt with an undisclosed injury during November, but he has since been cleared as he continues into the new year with the Jets.
Montgomer was placed on the Jets' practice squad injured list Tuesday, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: The 23-year-old joined the Jets in late August and has been on the practice squad all season, but he's now dealing with the unspecified injury. It's unclear how long Montgomery is expected to be sidelined.
Montgomery was waived by the Jets on Saturday, Andy Vasquez of The Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Montgomery had just been claimed off waivers from the Browns, so this result shouldn't come as much of a surprise. Montgomery did end up on the Jets practice squad however, which could afford the 23-year-old a spot on the active roster down the road.

Analysis: Montgomery has returned to Cleveland's facilities after spending time away from the team due to personal reasons, but his ability to practice is now impeded by a hamstring issue. The undrafted wideout out of Austin Peay faces long odds to make the 53-man roster, and will look to get healthy as soon as possible.
