Morgan was cut from the Cardinals' practice squad Saturday, Howard Balzer of GoPHNX.com reports.
Analysis: Morgan was brought in Dec. 20 as an emergency option for the Cardinals. With Kyler Murray (knee) done for the year and Colt McCoy nursing a concussion, he was third in line behind David Blough and Trace McSorley at quarterback. However, as the Cardinals enter the final week of their season, and with two healthy quarterbacks on the active roster, the team has decided to cut Morgan loose.

Analysis: Morgan had just signed with the practice squad on Nov. 24 after spending time with The Steelers' and Panthers' practice squads this season. Originally drafted by the Jets in the fourth round of the 2020 Draft and cut at the end of training camp, Morgan will now work to earn a shot elsewhere.

Morgan was cut from the Steelers practice squad Tuesday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: Morgan was a fourth-round selection of the Jets in the 2020 NFL Draft. He was a part of the Jets' final round of cuts going into the 2021 season and ultimately signed with the Panthers' practice squad. He was cut once the team brought in Cam Newton and added by the Steelers when Ben Roethlisberger was sidelined with COVID-19. The second-year quarterback will now try to latch on elsewhere.

Morgan was waived by the Jets on Tuesday.
Analysis: Morgan was competing with Mike White (ribs) for the team's backup quarterback role behind Zach Wilson, but ultimately came up short. Drafted in the fourth-round of the 2020 NFL Draft, he spent most of his rookie season on the Jets' practice squad. Assuming he clears waivers, that is again a likely landing spot for the second-year signal caller.

Morgan completed 13 of 23 passes for 158 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in Friday's preseason finale against the Eagles.
Analysis: Morgan played the second half after Josh Johnson worked the first half, and the 2020 fourth-round pick put forth a decent showing, though it remains to be seen whether he'll make the Jets' roster. Both of Morgan's touchdown passes went to tight end Kenny Yeboah, including a 49-yard Hail Mary on the game's final play. Josh Adams ran in the ensuing two-point conversion to tie the game at 31, creating about as thrilling of an ending as you'll see in a preseason tie.

Morgan completed one of three passes for five yards in Saturday's 23-14 preseason win over the Packers.
Analysis: Zach Wilson played most of the first half before giving way to Mike White, who exited with a rib injury. Morgan came in after White got hurt but didn't look very sharp. If White's injury lingers into the regular season and the Jets don't bring in anyone else, Morgan and Josh Johnson would compete for the backup role. Johnson seems like the favorite to win the spot in that scenario considering Morgan -- whom the Jets selected in the fourth round of the 2020 draft -- still looks overwhelmed at the NFL level, but Morgan will likely get a chance to change that perception in the preseason finale against the Eagles.

Coach Adam Gase revealed that Morgan may not make an appearance on the active roster over the remainder of the season, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports. "I think we're a ways off from that," Gase said.
Analysis: The offensive-minded coach cited a lack of preseason experience as a key reason for why Morgan is struggling to find playing time. It seems that with Sam Darnold (shoulder) ruled out for New York's Week 11 matchup against the Chargers, Gase and the Jets would prefer to add a quarterback from the practice squad rather than turning to Morgan as a backup to Joe Flacco. The rookie fourth-round draft choice from Florida International has not yet made an appearance for the Jets in 2020.
Nov 19, 2020 3:21 PM EST
Morgan (coach's decision) is inactive for New York's Week 2 matchup against the 49ers, per the Jets' official Twitter account.
Analysis: The fourth-round draft choice currently resides on the Jets' depth chart as the No. 3 option at quarterback, though he likely will be buried in the No. 4 position once Joe Flacco (neck) is able to return to action. Morgan remains a developmental backup for Gang Green after throwing for 40 touchdowns and over 5,300 yards for Florida International the past two years.
