The Raiders released Hill on Wednesday, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Hill's time with the Raiders amounted to three days, and this move comes on the heels of Devontae Booker being activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday. At the very least, Hill has proved the health of his right knee and will look to land an opportunity with another organization.

The Raiders have signed Hill to a contract, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: After hosting Hill on Friday and running him through a workout, physical and COVID-19 test, Las Vegas has added another player to the running back ranks. The Raiders' backfield is led by Josh Jacobs while Jalen Richard handles pass-catching duties, but Hill nonetheless will compete for a reserve role with fellow veteran Devontae Booker (illness). Hill spent the 2019 season away from football due to his recovery from a torn right ACL.

The Raiders are expected to sign Hill to a contract, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Hill didn't play in 2019 due to his recovery from a torn ACL in his right knee. As a result, the aforementioned move is pending a physical and COVID-19 testing. If the signing goes through, he'll join a backfield led by second-year pro Jalen Richard and complemented by receiving back Jalen Richard. Consider rookie Lynn Bowden and Devontae Booker (illness) also are in the ranks, Hill will have a difficult climb to the regular-season roster.

Hill (knee) anticipates signing with a team once he receives medical clearance, Herbie Teope of The New Orleans Advocate reports.
Analysis: Hill tore the ACL in his right knee during a Week 1 game with the Patriots last season, after beating out Mike Gillislee for a roster spot. The 27-year-old running back never lived up to the promise of his impressive rookie season, but he may still have something to offer as a bruiser for short-yardage situations and clock-killing work. Even so, Hill will face an uphill battle to earn a spot on the 53-man roster if/when he signs with an NFL team.

Hill tweeted Monday that he underwent ACL reconstruction on his right knee.
Analysis: Hill suffered the ligament tear in his Patriots debut Week 1, ending his fifth pro campaign shortly after it started. The injury marked his second consecutive season-ender, and he waited nearly two months before going under the knife. Kevin Duffy of MassLive.com noted players occasionally push back surgery to "restore muscle strength/range of motion," which appears to have been the track taken by Hill. It'll be interesting to see if the delayed procedure also modifies Hill's recovery timeline, which could now extend into the 2019 season.

The Patriots will place Hill (knee) on IR, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Hill lands on IR after tearing his right ACL in Sunday's season-opener. Now that he's out of the mix, the Patriots' backfield is currently whittled down to the trio of Rex Burkhead, James White and Sony Michel (knee).

Hill was diagnosed Monday with a torn ACL, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Hill suffered the injury shortly after halftime in Sunday's 27-20 win over Houston, finishing with four carries for 25 yards and one catch for six yards. His absence for the remainder of the season should free up a few more carries for Rex Burkhead and Sony Michel (knee). The Patriots will place Hill on injured reserve, Jim McBride of The Boston Globe reports.

Hill's knee injury may be serious, WEEI.com's Ryan Hannable reports.
Analysis: Hill was down on the ground for a few minutes after the suffering the injury, and the Patriots were quick to rule him out for the rest of Sunday's game against Houston. The running back then sent out a cryptic tweet, perhaps hinting at a major setback. Hill gained 25 yards on four carries and six yards on one reception in Sunday's 27-20 victory, splitting backfield snaps with Rex Burkhead and James White throughout the first half. An extended absence for Hill might help Burkhead and/or Sony Michel (knee) with workload consistency.

Hill was forced out of Sunday's game against the Texans with a knee injury.
Analysis: Per Mike Reiss of ESPN.com, Hill did not seem to be putting much pressure on his leg as walked to the medical tent. Prior to his exit from Sunday's game, Hill had carried four times for 25 yards and caught one pass for six yards. Rex Burkhead and James White remain on hand in the Patriots' backfield Sunday, with Sony Michel (knee) having been made inactive in Week 1.

Hill's smooth transition to the Patriots offense made Mike Gillislee (who opened the 2017 season as the team's No. 1 running back) expendable, ESPN's Mike Reiss reports. "He's done a lot of good things to this point, had a good spring and summer," coach Bill Belichick noted of the former Bengal. "He certainly adapted quickly."
Analysis: Of course, Hill's context is different than Gillislee's was last year, with versatile Rex Burkhead, pass-catching ace James White and promising rookie Sony Michel (knee) -- when healthy -- also on hand. Where Hill fits into the team's deep backfield is that he provides a power element that could translate into a share of opportunities in short-yardage situations. Given the Patriots' tendency to go with game-plan/game-flow specific carry distribution, Hill's weekly production figures to vary. Still, if he ends up emerging as the team's preferred option around the goal line, he could provide a degree of fantasy utility in TD-heavy formats.

Hill (leg) returned to Friday's preseason game against the Panthers, Zack Cox of NESN.com reports.
Analysis: Hill missed little time before being re-inserted on special teams. He relayed after the game that he was fine and didn't show signs of limping. That's great news for the Patriots, as the 25-year-old has had a solid preseason, accruing 121 yards form scrimmage and one touchdown.
Aug 24, 2018 8:46 PM EST
Hill limped off the field during Friday's preseason game at Carolina, Ben Volin of The Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: Hill was taken down via a horse collar tackle prior to leaving the contest. The nature and severity of the injury is unknown, but he was having an impressive preseason, racking up 26 carries for 107 yards and one touchdown to go with two catches for 14 yards.
Aug 24, 2018 7:20 PM EST
Hill rushed for 31 yards on six carries during Thursday's 37-20 win over Philadelphia.
Analysis: Hill dealt with a leg injury this week, but rebounded to average five yards per touch for the second consecutive week. New England is loaded at running back and Hill hasn't averaged four yards per carry during a full season since his rookie campaign in 2014. If he's able to keep this pace up, however, he could be a valuable powerback to complement the Patriots' collection of shiftier ball carriers.
Aug 16, 2018 8:30 PM EST
Hill (leg) was not mentioned as one of the Patriots' players missing from warmups prior to Thursday's preseason game against the Eagles, Doug Kyed of NESN.com reports.
Analysis: Unlike the regular season, teams aren't required to submit official inactive lists for exhibition tilts. What is known is that Hill appeared to tweak his leg at practice Monday, so it's unclear what sort of workload awaits him Thursdays, if he is indeed deemed available by New England's coaching staff.
Aug 16, 2018 4:25 PM EST
Hill (leg) isn't practicing Tuesday, Kevin Duffy of MassLive.com reports.
Analysis: Hill was clutching his right leg when he left the practice field Monday, foreshadowing Tuesday's absence. He built a nice lead on Mike Gillislee with 11 carries for 51 yards and a touchdown in the preseason opener, but things could tilt back in Gillislee's favor if Hill doesn't get back on the field soon. With Hill, Sony Michel (knee) and Rex Burkhead (undisclosed) all likely to miss Thursday's preseason game against Philadelphia, the Patriots figure to keep Gillislee and Ralph Webb busy.
Aug 14, 2018 11:44 AM EST
Hill walked off the practice field Monday holding on to the back of his right leg, Mark Daniels of the Providence Journal reports.
Analysis: Though he didn't retreat to the locker room afterward, Hill didn't take any more handoffs through the rest of the session, making this a situation to monitor in the coming days. Hill, who logged 11 carries for 51 yards and a TD and caught two passes for 14 yards in Thursday's preseason game against Washington, is looking to secure a role in the Patriots' backfield behind roster locks Sony Michel (knee) and Rex Burkhead (undisclosed). His primary competition on that front is Mike Gillislee.
Aug 13, 2018 8:52 AM EST
Hill took 11 carries for 51 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's 26-17 preseason win over Washington.
Analysis: With Sony Michel (knee) and Rex Burkhead (undisclosed) both held out, Mike Gillislee got the start but was held to 43 yards on 14 carries, giving Hill the early advantage in what seems to be a battle for one roster spot. Furthermore, Hill didn't get any carries after the third quarter, while Gillislee was still in the game late in the fourth quarter for a botched exchange that was charged as a fumble to quarterback Danny Etling. Hill looks a bit quicker than he did last season, and he mentioned that he's down to 226 pounds, approximately 10 pounds lighter than his playing weight for Cincinnati in 2017, per Kevin Duffy of The Boston Herald.
