Tyler Bass: Rough night for kickers

Bass converted just one of three-field goal attempts while making both of his extra-point tries in Saturday's playoff win over the Ravens.

Analysis: This was one of the more brutal wind conditions the NFL has seen in a big game, and both kickers paid the price. Justin Tucker, arguably the greatest kicker in this generation, doinked two off the uprights and finished with the same 1-of-3 line as Bass. The rookie will get at least one more game to finish on a positive note in what's been a decent debut season, though weather could also be an issue with either Buffalo or Kansas City being the two possible venues for the AFC Championship Game.

Tyler Bass: Perfect in wild-card win

Bass made both of his field-goal attempts and all three of his extra-point tries in Saturday's 27-24 wild-card win over the Colts.

Analysis: Bass converted from 46 and 54 yards on his respective field goals, helping Buffalo win their first playoff game in 25 years by three points. Heading into Saturday's AFC divisional-round meeting with the Ravens, Bass has gone four straight games without a miss.

Tyler Bass: Racks up PATs

Bass did not attempt a field goal but made all eight of his extra-point tries in Sunday's 56-26 win over the Dolphins.

Analysis: Bass was busy Sunday thanks to another highly efficient performance from his offense. With eight more points, Bass finished the regular season with 141 total, placing fourth among kickers league-wide despite being a rookie.

Tyler Bass: Stays true in dominant win

Bass made his lone field-goal attempt -- a 22-yarder -- as well as all five of his extra-point tries in Monday's 38-9 win over the Patriots.

Analysis: Bass has been the recipient of extra opportunities lately as the Buffalo offense is clicking on all cylinders. He's also started to put together a nice stat line following a rocky start to his rookie season, as he now sits with a 28-for-34 (82 percent) mark on field-goal attempts and is 49-of-51 on extra-point tries. Bass is fourth in the league in scoring with 133 points.

Tyler Bass: Makes eight kicks

Bass made both of his field-goal attempts as well as all six of his extra-point tries in Saturday's 48-19 win over the Broncos.

Analysis: Bass converted consecutive field goals from 27 yards to help bring his tally to double figures for the fifth time this season. Overall, the rookie now sports a hefty total of 125 points, placing him second in the category league-wide.

Tyler Bass: Misses extra point

Bass made both of his field-goal attempts but missed one of three extra-point tries in Sunday night's 26-15 win over the Steelers.

Analysis: Bass had missed just one PAT entering Sunday's contest but misfired with his first attempt from that distance on the night. In converting from 34 and 23 yards on his field goals, however, Bass still put together his fifth straight game with at least eight points. That stretch has brought him up to 113 points on the campaign, placing him fifth among kickers league-wide.

Tyler Bass: Hitting on all cylinders

Bass made both of his field-goal attempts (37 and 28 yards) and all four extra-point tries in Buffalo's win over the 49ers on Monday night.

Analysis: That makes three straight flawless games for the rookie out of Georgia Southern, who's proven to be a strong draft choice following some early season struggles. Bass has made every single attempt starting in Week 8 with the exception of a 61-yard try before halftime in Week 9. While the schedule and the weather are tough factors down the stretch, a strong-legged rookie hitting his stride in a hot offense makes for a good fantasy play, even considering the negative factors.

Bass currently sits fourth in the league in scoring with 105 points following Week 13 action.

Tyler Bass: Another smooth day

Bass put up nine points in Sunday's win over the Chargers, converting on 45- and 43-yard attempts while making all three of his extra-point tries.

Analysis: Bass has been excellent following some early season rookie hiccups. In Week 7, he made six field goals on eight attempts in a game where he did all the scoring for the Bills, and he's made every single attempt since that game with the exception of a 61-yard attempt before halftime in Week 9. Bass has become a fantasy factor now that he's found his footing in an offense that moves the ball well.

Tyler Bass: Three long-distance kicks

Bass made all three of his field-goal tries in Sunday's loss to Arizona, from 54, 55 and 58 yards. He also made all three of his extra-point tries.

Analysis: Bass became only the second kicker in NFL history -- Justin Tucker being the other -- to make three 50-plus yarders in the first half of a game. The rookie has a big leg, and he has some decent job security after connecting on 22 of 28 field-goal attempts (78.6 percent) and 31 of 32 extra-point tries so far this season. Bass is also adept at getting touchbacks on kickoffs, as he's tied for third in the league with 40 of them so far.

Tyler Bass: Rings up 14 points

Bass made three of four field-goal attempts and all five extra points in Sunday's 44-34 win over the Seahawks.

Analysis: Bass missed five field goals over eight games leading up to this outing, but Sunday's misfire shouldn't be held against the rookie. Coach Sean McDermott rolled Bass out for a 61-yard attempt in the winding seconds of the first half, and while he had enough leg on a windless day, he pushed it wide right. Bass has made 73 percent of field-goal tries this year, and he now has 74 points through nine games, tied with four other kickers for fifth in the league.

Tyler Bass: Makes game-winning FG

Bass made his lone field-goal attempt and all three-extra point attempts during Sunday's 24-21 win over the Patriots.

Analysis: The 23-year-old was called upon for eight field-goal attempts last week (he made six), but his only attempt Sunday was the game winner, as he converted from 28 yards to break a 21-21 tie with four minutes left in the fourth quarter. Bass has endured an up-and-down rookie campaign, going 13-for-18 on field-goal attempts and 21-for-22 on extra-point attempts through eight games. A matchup with the Seahawks next week should provide plenty of opportunities for points for the Buffalo offense.

Tyler Bass: Record-setting day

Bass made six of eight field-goal attempts in Buffalo's 18-10 win over the Jets on Sunday.

Analysis: The misses were not pretty and could have led to an embarrassing defeat for the Bills in what was a surprisingly close game most of the afternoon. But the rookie sixth-rounder pushed through and ended up making kicks of 53, 48, 46, 37, 29 and 40 yards. In the process, Bass tied the NFL record for field-goal attempts in a game and became the first rookie to have eight attempts in a game.

Tyler Bass: One ugly miss

Bass was 1-for-2 on field-goal tries and made both of his extra-point attempts in Monday's loss to the Chiefs.

Analysis: The miss was on a 52-yarder to end the half and was wide enough right to say the golfer's equivalent would be pushing a drive all the way over to the other fairway. The rookie was true on his other three attempts, which all in all isn't too bad on a chilly, misty day, Bass's first experience with Buffalo's sometimes inclement weather. After six weeks, Bass sits in a tie for 23rd in fantasy kicker scoring with 36 points. Part of that is due to the team's 73.9 red-zone touchdown percentage.

Tyler Bass: Perfect in lopsided loss

Bass made his only field-goal attempt -- a 43-yarder -- and his only extra-point try during Tuesday's loss to the Titans.

Analysis: Bass could have had one more point, but the Bills did some strategizing and tried to go for two when they scored a fourth-quarter TD and were down by 12. Bass has been pretty true following some Week 1 hiccups by making all three of his field-goals tries between Weeks 2-5 while converting 13 of 14 extra-point attempts. The Bills' newly found successful offense has been strong in the red zone this season, however, which has kept Bass's attempts in check. He sits in a tie for 22nd in kicker scoring after five weeks, though we tend to think he stands a good chance to bump up from the spot as the Buffalo offense falls back toward the norm in red-zone success.

October 13, 2020 9:56 PM EST

Tyler Bass: Misses extra point

Bass made a 34-yard field goal and three of four extra-point attempts in Sunday's 30-23 win over the Raiders.

Analysis: The rookie sixth-rounder hasn't tried a field goal from beyond 40 yards yet this season, but that can be chalked up to the Bills' strong offensive efficiency. However, it's a bit concerning that Bass has attempted just two field goals over the past three weeks, so his fantasy value has been overly reliant on extra points. That's not a great recipe for success, but it may be worth holding onto a kicker tied to this offense.

October 5, 2020 1:09 PM EST

Tyler Bass: Limited to extra points

Bass made all five of his extra-point tries but didn't attempt a field goal in Sunday's 35-32 win over the Rams.

Analysis: Bass did all that was required of him on a day Buffalo scored all five of its touchdowns from inside the five-yard line. Such efficiency restricted Bass' upside, but he nonetheless went a second straight week without a miss following his two misfires in Week 1.

September 29, 2020 10:23 AM EST

Tyler Bass: Flawless Week 2

Bass connected on his only field-goal try -- a 39-yarder -- and made all four extra-point attempts in Sunday's win over Miami.

Analysis: The field goal was ultimately the difference in the 31-28 win, as Bass looked a lore more comfortable than a shaky Week 1 that might have had some questioning why he was kept over longtime veteran Steven Hauschka. Bass should have some leash as an actual draft pick -- rare for a kicker -- though playing for a team that should be in contention this season and having a number of important games will mean he'll have to produce like he did in Week 2.

September 21, 2020 9:40 AM EST

Tyler Bass: Posts first NFL points

Bass was good on two of four field-goal attempts in Sunday's win over the Jets while converting all three of his extra-point attempts.

Analysis: The sixth-round rookie who beat out veteran Stephen Hauschka will certainly never forget his first NFL attempt, as replays showed the kick was actually good yet officials inexplicably ruled it as wide right. Bass's second attempt was well off, but he re-grouped to make two shorties (22 and 19) that provided valuable insurance. While he looked a little shaky, posting nine points -- and having a legit excuse for one of his misses -- likely keeps Bass in the safe zone for now.

September 14, 2020 10:59 PM EST

Tyler Bass: Only kicker in camp

Bass is the Bills' only kicker following the release of Stephen Hauschka.

Analysis: It's not entirely surprising that Bass was kept after being drafted by the Bills in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He's thus poised to replace Hauschka, who had kicked for the team since 2017. The Georgia State product has a strong leg, but his fantasy upside as a rookie hinges on how well Buffalo's Josh Allen-helmed offense clicks this season.
