Joe Lombardi Calls Evan Engram an "Elite Receiver"

Wednesday, August 20, 3:11 PM

Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi called tight end Evan Engram an "elite receiver." The Broncos have been searching for an elite pass-catching tight end for a while now, and Engram could be that guy in 2025 in his first year with the team. The 30-year-old former first-rounder by the New York Giants in 2017 out of Mississippi played in only nine games due to a shoulder injury last year, but he had a career-high 963 receiving yards on 114 receptions in a career year for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2023. Engram has developed chemistry with second-year quarterback Bo Nix this summer and could be the young signal-caller's No. 2 target behind receiver Courtland Sutton. Not only should Engram see more usage in Denver thi year, but he could also be more of a red-zone target, which has been an issue for his fantasy upside since his rookie season.

Cade Otton News

Cade Otton Returns to Practice Field on Monday

Monday, September 1, 3:04 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton (leg) was back on the practice field on Monday, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. While Otton was likely limited in Monday's practice, it at least gives him a chance to suit up for the Week 1 regular-season opener this Sunday against the division-rival Atlanta Falcons. Fantasy managers will have a better idea of whether Otton will be able to play this weekend when they start to release their official practice reports on Wednesday. In addition to a leg injury, Otton also missed time during training camp and the preseason with a hamstring injury, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see him held out to open the year. When fully healthy, he'll be in play as a TE2 in fantasy as the team's top pass-catching TE. If Otton is out in Week 1, expect a committee approach that involves Payne Durham, Devin Culp and Ko Kieft.
