Well-traveled Washington Commanders quarterback Josh Johnson completed 15 of 22 passes for a game-high 173 yards with one touchdown and an interception on Friday against the New England Patriots. Jayden Daniels is the no-doubt starter for Washington with Marcus Mariota also in the fold as the likely backup, leaving Johnson and Sam Hartman competing for the third spot. Hartman struggled while the 38-year-old Johnson proved to be the more effective of the two, at least in the opener. Washington will next take on Cincinnati on Aug. 18.

ESPN's Ben Baby reports that Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (toe) is taking part in the portion of practice on Wednesday that is open to the media. It was an unpadded practice for the Bengals, and Burrow threw passes in sweatpants and a helmet. The Bengals opened their 21-day practice window on Monday, and the 28-year-old signal-caller is eyeing a potential return for the Thanksgiving Day game against the division-rival Baltimore Ravens in three weeks. He will officially be listed as limited on Wednesday. Whether the former first overall pick actually plays in three weeks on Turkey Day will depend on how much progress he makes and the team's record at that point. Cincy isn't going to rush the face of the franchise back if their chances of making the postseason are slim. Still, fantasy managers should be looking to pick Burrow up and stash him if he's available on the waiver wire.
