Chicago Bears running back Roschon Johnson could be worth keeping an eye on in deeper fantasy leagues after both D'Andre Swift (hip/knee) and Kyle Monangai (thumb/toe) missed Wednesday's practice. Johnson has barely been involved this season, but he finally got his first offensive touches against the Jets in Week 4, rushing four times for 16 yards and catching his only target for seven yards. Monangai handled a career-high 30 carries for 146 yards and two touchdowns before leaving late with a thumb injury, while Swift finished with 15 attempts for 58 yards after losing a fumble in the third quarter. Head coach Ben Johnson has downplayed Monangai's thumb issue, so there is no indication yet that either back will miss Sunday's game against Green Bay. Roschon remains third on Chicago's depth chart and doesn't offer much standalone fantasy value. Still, with two backs ahead of him dealing with injuries, he is worth monitoring in deeper formats in case a larger opportunity opens up.

The Chicago Bears elevated running back Brittain Brown from their practice squad for the team's Week 9 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. Chicago will be without running backs D'Andre Swift (groin) and Roschon Johnson (back) against Cincinnati. Rookie running back Kyle Monangai is expected to step into a workhorse role in Week 9. Brown and veteran Travis Homer are the most likely candidates to give Monangai a breather when he needs one. Brown has not appeared in an NFL game since 2022, when he played in six games for the Las Vegas Raiders. The 28-year-old exclusively played special teams for Las Vegas, so he's unlikely to take on much of an offensive role for Chicago in Week 9.
