Clears waivers Monday

Bradford cleared waivers Monday, making him a free agent, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Analysis: Arizona marked the fourth stop of Bradford's career, but his 2018 campaign lasted all of three appearances before coach Steve Wilks pulled him in favor of rookie quarterback Josh Rosen. During his time on the field, Bradford posted a career-worst 62.5 QB rating, which was fueled by a miserable 5.0 yards per attempt and two touchdowns versus four interceptions on 80 passes. Despite not making an appearance on Cardinals injury reports this season, Bradford reportedly didn't practice the five weeks before his release due to longstanding issues with his left knee, according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN. As a result, any organization interested in Bradford will expose the veteran signal-caller to a physical to scrutinize his health.

Let go by Cardinals

Bradford was released by the Cardinals on Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Analysis: Bradford signed a one-year, $20 million contract with Arizona in March and began the season as the starting quarterback, but has been relegated to third-string duties. The 30-year-old completed 50 of 80 passes for 400 yards with two touchdowns, four interceptions and two lost fumbles before being replaced by rookie Josh Rosen late in the Week 3 loss to the Bears. Bradford will hope to latch on elsewhere after a disastrous stint with the Cardinals.

Inactive Sunday

Bradford (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's contest against the Seahawks, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis: As expected, Bradford has yielded the No. 2 job to Mike Glennon after losing the starting QB gig to Josh Rosen last weekend. Unless something happens to the duo, Bradford seems destined to be deactivated on game day for the foreseeable future.

Likely inactive Sunday

Bradford is expected to be the Cardinals' No. 3 quarterback moving forward, resulting in inactive status on game days, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Analysis: The Cardinals won't officially confirm their Week 4 inactives until about 90 minutes before Sunday's 4:05 PM ET kickoff, but Bradford seemingly will be wearing street clothes with the Seahawks in town. Coach Steve Wilks will thus trust in Josh Rosen as the starting quarterback, with Mike Glennon backing up the 2018 first-round pick.

Healthy for Week 4

Bradford (pectoral) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game against the Seahawks, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.

Analysis: As if getting demoted to backup quarterback behind a rookie wasn't enough, Bradford dealt with a pectoral injury this week, limiting him Wednesday and Thursday before taking every rep Friday. He'll enter the weekend with a clean bill of health, but snaps on Sundays will be difficult to come by unless something befalls Josh Rosen.

Limited by injury after demotion

Bradford (pectoral) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.

Analysis: Bradford's injury isn't much of a concern for the Cardinals now that Josh Rosen has been promoted to the starting job. The team may opt to use Mike Glennon as the No. 2 quarterback on game days, rather than paying Bradford a sizable bonus for each week he's on the active roster.

Loses starting job

Bradford has lost the starting job to Josh Rosen, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.

Analysis: Bradford put up just 20 points and committed six turnovers in three games, eventually getting benched during the fourth quarter of Sunday's 16-14 loss to the Bears. It remains to be seen if he'll be active for Week 4 as the backup quarterback, given that the Cardinals can avoid some of his roster bonuses if he isn't on the 46-man gameday squad. It would be cheaper for the team to use Mike Glennon as the backup for Sunday's game against Seattle.

Benched in fourth quarter

Bradford was replaced by Josh Rosen in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 16-14 loss to the Bears, finishing 13-of-19 passing for 157 yards with two touchdowns, two interceptions and a lost fumble.

Analysis: After tossing a pair of scores in the opening quarter, Bradford saw three consecutive drives end with punts to close out the first half. He then turned the ball over on three straight series coming out of the break, eventually giving way to Josh Rosen for the final five minutes of the game. The rookie completed four of seven passes for 36 yards and an interception, but he did nearly march the Cardinals into field-goal range right around the two-minute warning. It won't come as any surprise if Bradford is relegated to the backup job for Week 4 against Seattle.

Remaining starting QB

Coach Steve Wilks confirmed Bradford will remain the Cardinals' starting quarterback, Kyle Odegard of the Cardinals' official site reports. "Sam's the guy," Wilks said Wednesday.

Analysis: The Cardinals are safely in the basement in terms of offensive output through two games, accounting for a dismal 350 yards to date. While Bradford is completing a modest 61 percent of his passes, he has just two completions of 20-plus yards en route to 243 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions. The scheme likely requires some tweaks, but presumed lesser quarterbacks have had better success with top-tier weapons like Larry Fitzgerald (hamstring) and David Johnson. Until Bradford turns it around, the pressure to thrust rookie signal-caller Josh Rosen into action could become unceasing.

May be facing heat from Rosen

Coach Steve Wilks didn't commit to Bradford as the starting quarterback for Week 3 against Chicago, Kyle Odegard of the Cardinals' official site reports.

Analysis: Wilks didn't actually say anything specific, sticking with the typical coach statement of "everybody will be evaluated." Bradford struggled through another awful outing in Sunday's 34-0 loss to the Rams, completing 17 of 27 passes for 90 yards and an interception. With Josh Rosen waiting in the wings and Arizona's season seemingly going nowhere, Bradford will be on a short leash even if he does keep the starting job for another week.

Struggles against Washington

Bradford completed 20 of 34 pass attempts for 153 yards with no touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's 24-6 loss to Washington.

Analysis: Bradford passed for just 11 yards in the first half, while leading the offense to a measly two first downs. It didn't get much better in the second half, as the Cardinals did not score until late in the fourth quarter on a David Johnson touchdown run. On the bright side, Bradford showed a strong connection with Larry Fitzgerald, as the duo hooked up seven times for 76 yards. The veteran quarterback probably won't find things easier in Week 2, with the Rams on the schedule.

Feeling good entering season

Bradford enters the 2018 season in good health, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports. "I know that right now, it does feel as good as it has felt in a long time," Bradford said Wednesday.

Analysis: Bradford was limited to two appearances with the Vikings last season due to complications with his left knee, which eventually underwent a cleanup procedure on Nov. 7. Despite being activated from IR in the playoffs, he backed up Case Keenum during Minnesota's two-game run. Upon joining the Cardinals, Bradford's activity level was monitored throughout the offseason with his oft-injured left knee in mind. After a preseason in which he completed eight of 11 passes for 73 yards, Bradford is poised to act as a game manager in a David Johnson-dominated offensive scheme.

Limited reps in third preseason game

Bradford played the first two drives in Sunday's 27-3 preseason win over the Cowboys, completing one of four passes for six yards.

Analysis: Bradford saw limited action while top skill position players David Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald sat out entirely. Mike Glennon and rookie Josh Rosen (thumb) don't appear to be serious threats to Bradford's starting job heading into the Sept. 9 season opener against Washington.

Looks another TD drive

Bradford completed each of his six pass attempts for 61 yards in Friday's preseason game against the Saints.

Analysis: After leading a run-heavy touchdown drive on his only series in the preseason opener, Bradford got a bit more playing time Friday, producing seven points on three drives. Josh Rosen also got some work with the first-team offense, completing 10 of 16 passes for 107 yards and a touchdown, all in the second quarter. There may not be any competition for the Week 1 starting job, but the calls for Rosen will heat up if the Cardinals don't stay in the playoff hunt. There's also the issue of Bradford's left knee, which Vikings coach Mike Zimmer once referred to as "degenerative".

Will play more in second exhibition

Bradford will play more than a series in Friday's preseason game at New Orleans, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.

Analysis: Bradford did little more than hand off the ball to David Johnson and rookie Chase Edmonds in his debut with the Cards on Saturday, attempting just one pass. With more than one possession expected of Bradford on Friday, the offense likely will be a bit more diverse, especially to build an in-game rapport with Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald and others in the passing attack. Urban also relayed that 2018 first-rounder Josh Rosen will work with the first-team offense, so Bradford's usage should be more indicative of what will occur during the regular season.

Aug 13, 2018 12:27 PM EST

Completes one pass in debut

Bradford played 10 of 54 offensive snaps during Saturday's 24-17 preseason win against the Chargers.

Analysis: The Cardinals were deliberate during their first offensive possession, ordering up seven runs versus just one pass. A six-yard connection between Bradford and tight end Ricky Seals-Jones aside, the combination of David Johnson and rookie Chase Edmonds marched the Cards 45 yards across nearly six minutes. Offensive coordinator Mike McCoy is smart to play to his strengths, but the sample size isn't enough to assume Bradford won't air it out this year, likely in some sort of quick passing attack with Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald acting as the primary targets.

Playing in preseason opener

Bradford will play in Saturday's preseason game against the Chargers, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.

Analysis: After endearing a cap on his practice reps throughout the offseason program, Bradford has been running the first-team offense since training camp opened on July 28. The decision by coach Steve Wilks was a logical one due to Bradford's injury history, namely regarding his left knee. Wilks wouldn't divulge how many snaps or series Bradford will take on Saturday, but it likely won't be much with 2018 first-rounder Josh Rosen, Mike Glennon and Chad Kanoff all waiting in the wings.
