The Los Angeles Rams have secured their offensive centerpiece, as Kyren Williams signed a three-year, $33 million extension with $23 million guaranteed. The 24-year-old running back's new deal makes him the seventh-highest paid at his position by average annual value, cementing his status as one of the NFL's elite backs after a remarkable two-year breakout period.

Williams' contract extension comes after he expressed his commitment to the organization during training camp. "I want to play for the Rams," Williams said. "That's who I want to be with. That's who I want to stay with. I know it will work out." His agent Drew Rosenhaus visited Rams training camp the following day to finalize negotiations.

Elite Production Justifies the Investment

The former fifth-round pick has transformed into a premier offensive weapon since becoming the Rams' lead back in early 2023. According to ESPN Research, Williams accounted for 43% of the Rams' total touches last season, the highest rate in the NFL. His production over the past two seasons has been nothing short of spectacular, accumulating 31 scrimmage touchdowns that ties him with Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs for the most in the NFL during that span.

"Williams has 31 scrimmage touchdowns over the last two seasons, which is tied with Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs for the most in the NFL in that span."

His rushing statistics are equally impressive, with 2,443 rushing yards over the last two seasons ranking third in the NFL behind only Derrick Henry (3,088) and Saquon Barkley (2,967).

Fantasy Football Implications

For fantasy managers in half-PPR formats, Williams represents exceptional value heading into 2025. His 43% touch share demonstrates the Rams' commitment to featuring him as their primary offensive weapon. With 31 total touchdowns in 28 games over the past two seasons, Williams has proven to be an elite red zone threat who can deliver consistent fantasy production.

The contract extension eliminates any uncertainty about his role, making him a safe early-round draft target. His dual-threat ability - combining elite rushing production with solid receiving numbers - makes him particularly valuable in half-PPR scoring. Fantasy managers should expect Williams to maintain his heavy workload and touchdown-dependent scoring, positioning him as a potential top-10 RB for the upcoming season.
