Joshua Palmer Dealing With "Knee Sprain"

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer (knee), who was placed on Injured Reserve on Sunday, is dealing with a "knee sprain," according to head coach Brandon Staley. "He'll be out for the four weeks for sure and then we'll just see from there," Staley said. When asked if he is expecting Palmer to be back this season, Staley said, "no expectations." The 24-year-old will be eligible to return in Week 13, but it remains to be seen if he'll be ready to go by then. Until then, rookie first-rounder Quentin Johnston and Jalen Guyton will have expanded roles in the passing attack behind target hog Keenan Allen. Mike Williams (knee) is already out for the season with a torn ACL. Fantasy managers in 12-team leagues shouldn't feel compelled to hang onto Palmer if they don't have the room and have more pressing needs.

Joshua Palmer Ruled Out For Week 9

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer (knee) has been ruled out ahead of the Week 9 matchup against the New York Jets. This was expected after Palmer was unable to practice all week. The hope is that this is only going to be a one-game absence for Palmer. Rookie wideout Quentin Johnston should have a good opportunity to step up without Palmer available. However, he's still third in terms of target pecking order behind Keenan Allen and running back Austin Ekeler. Johnson could be a possible flex option for deep league fantasy managers this week.

Joshua Palmer Misses Another Practice On Friday

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer (knee) missed practice on Friday with a knee injury. This was the second consecutive DNP for the wideout who initially suffered the injury in the Chargers' Week 8 SNF victory over the Chicago Bears. He left that game early on account of his knee but ended up returning. However, back-to-back missed practices on Thursday and Friday put his status for Week 9 in doubt. Since the Chargers don't play the Jets until Monday, Palmer has one more chance on Saturday to log a limited practice session. If he ends up being ruled out then rookie wide receiver Quentin Johnston should see an uptick in usage against the Jets.

Joshua Palmer Not Practicing On Thursday

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer (knee) was not seen on the practice field on Thursday after getting hurt in the Sunday night win over the Chicago Bears in Week 8. The good news is Palmer still has two more days to try and return to practice before the Chargers must release their final injury report for Week 9. The bad news is that if Palmer ultimately ends up as being questionable, he'll be an extremely risky flex play with the Chargers facing off against the New York Jets on Monday night this week. Rookie first-rounder Quentin Johnston would become much more intriguing as a deep-league flex option in Week 9 if Palmer is out or limited against the Jets. The 24-year-old Palmer has caught 15 of 26 targets for 294 yards and no touchdowns in four games since Mike Williams' (knee) season-ending injury.

Chargers Won't Have Update On Joshua Palmer Until Thursday

Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley said he doesn't have an update on wide receiver Joshua Palmer (knee) on Monday. The Chargers said they would know more on Palmer at practice on Thursday. Palmer injured his right knee in the Sunday night win over the Chicago Bears and eventually returned, finishing with three catches for only 24 yards. The Chargers play on Monday night against the New York Jets in Week 9, so their first official practice of the week won't be until Thursday. Fantasy managers will get a slightly better idea then on if Palmer will be able to play this week. Rookie Quentin Johnston had the best game of his young career (five catches for 50 yards) on Sunday night. The rookie would have serious flex appeal in fantasy lineups if Palmer were unable to play next Monday.

Joshua Palmer Makes Three Catches Before Getting Hurt

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer (knee) made three catches in a Week 8 win over the Chicago Bears. Palmer was targeted four times and made the three grabs for 24 yards. He left the game after aggravating his knee injury, and was seen after the game, "walking with a significant limp in the locker room". He told reporters that he wouldn't know the extent of the injury until Monday, after more tests were run. He should be considered questionable at best for next week against the New York Jets.

Joshua Palmer Active On Sunday Night

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer (knee) is active for Sunday's clash with the Chicago Bears. The 24-year-old was riding a questionable designation and missed a few practices during the week before being limited in Friday's session. Fortunately, he's good to go. With Gerald Everett (hip) out, Palmer could see a few extra looks from Justin Herbert, meaning he deserves flex consideration.

Joshua Palmer Considered Questionable For Week 8

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer (knee) is listed as questionable for the upcoming Week 8 matchup against the Chicago Bears. Palmer wasn't able to practice on Wednesday or Thursday due to a lingering knee issue. However, he was a limited participant during Friday's practice. At this point, it sounds like Palmer is going to be a legitimate game-time decision for Sunday's game. His absence would likely mean increased value for wideout Quentin Johnston and tight end Gerald Everett. Palmer has been the No. 2 wideout on this roster behind Keenan Allen, who is a strong WR1 play for this game.

Joshua Palmer Misses Thursday's Practice

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer (knee) remained on the sideline during Thursday's practice. This now marks back-to-back practice sessions that Palmer has missed. This is not a good sign heading into the Week 8 matchup against the Chicago Bears. The Chargers have been using Palmer as their No. 2 wideout with Mike Williams lost for the season. The absence of Palmer would mean more involvement for Keenan Allen, Quentin Johnson, and possibly Gerald Everett as well. Fantasy managers will need to stay tuned to see if Palmer is able to get back on the practice field on Friday.

Joshua Palmer Has A Huge Week 7

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer had a big game in a Week 7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Palmer was targeted seven times, catching five passes for 133 yards. The catches and yards were the most on the team, with the targets behind only Keenan Allen's nine. Palmer played well and was clearly part of the game plan, getting open on deep routes fairly regularly. He could have had a much bigger game if Justin Herbert had gotten any time to throw. Another big game could await in Week 8 against the Bears on Sunday Night Football.

Joshua Palmer Has A Tough Matchup In Week 7

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer has a tough matchup in a Week 7 game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Palmer has played well since Mike Williams (knee) was lost for the season, putting up three straight solid WR3 performances, but he's likely to face coverage from L'Jarius Sneed in this one. Sneed has kept guys like Justin Jefferson, D.J. Moore, and Garrett Wilson all under 40 yards while covering them this season, so there's a real concern that he may erase Palmer from the game. He's still a WR3, but there's a significantly lower floor than usual for that ranking.

Joshua Palmer Makes Four Catches In A Week 6 Loss

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer made four catches in a Week 6 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Palmer was targeted seven times, making the four catches for 60 yards. Palmer operated clearly behind Keenan Allen (seven catches on 11 targets) but still had a key role in the Chargers offense and should continue as a WR3 option most weeks. The Chargers will take on the division-rival Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7.

Joshua Palmer Active On Monday Night

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer (groin) is officially active for Monday night's game against the Dallas Cowboys. Palmer was a late addition to the team's Week 6 injury report when the Chargers listed him as questionable to play on Sunday. Despite the Bolts elevating receiver Keelan Doss from the practice squad to the active roster for Monday's game, Palmer will suit up and should be the No. 2 wideout behind target hog Keenan Allen in a game that could feature plenty of points scored. In his first game without Mike Williams (knee) in the Week 4 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, Palmer caught three of eight targets for a season-high 77 yards. Palmer should continue to be a decent WR4/flex play in fantasy lineups with Williams out for the rest of the year.

Joshua Palmer Expected To Play Monday Night

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer (groin) is expected to suit up for Monday Night Football, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Palmer was a late addition to the injury report this week, causing some concern for fantasy managers. Barring a setback, the third-year wideout is now slated to log his second-straight start in place of Mike Williams (knee). In his past two games, Palmer has tallied seven catches for 143 yards on 15 targets. He's in the WR4/flex range against the Dallas Cowboys.

Joshua Palmer Questionable To Play In Week 6

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer (groin) has been added to the injury report and is officially questionable to play against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night. Presumably, Palmer suffered some sort of injury on Saturday or Sunday, putting his status for Week 6 in doubt. If he can't suit up Monday, Quentin Johnston would operate as the Chargers' clear No. 2 receiver behind Keenan Allen.

Joshua Palmer Should Be Solid In Week 6

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer should be a solid depth option in a Week 6 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football. Palmer has moved into a larger role since Mike Williams (knee) was lost for the season, and he's been a fantasy WR3 for two weeks in a row, combining for 22 fantasy points in Weeks 3 and 4. Palmer has some big play upside, he ranks 16th in the NFL with seven deep targets, but he's shown the ability to play underneath and secure shorter gains as well. He has a decent floor, but the upside is all on Keenan Allen this and most weeks in the Chargers passing game.

Joshua Palmer Leads The Chargers In Yards In Week 4

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer led the Chargers in receiving yards in a Week 4 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Palmer was targeted a team-high eight times, catching three of them for 77 yards. Most of his yards came on a 51-yard catch to close out the game at the end of the fourth quarter. His target share was encouraging, but Palmer had some ugly drops in this one too. He did seem to fill most of space left open by the Mike Williams (knee) injury. Palmer could put up WR3 numbers once the Chargers return from their bye.

Joshua Palmer Could Have Some Week 4 Value

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer could have some fantasy value in a Week 4 game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Palmer hasn't had a huge role in the Chargers offense yet this year, but with Mike Williams (knee) done for the season, it's easy to see Palmer stepping into a much more significant role in the passing game. In Week 3, when Williams went down, Palmer caught four of his seven targets for 66 yards and a touchdown. He's likely to serve as a sort of field stretcher for Justin Herbert and the Chargers offense, giving him a little of a boom-or-bust profile until his role becomes more clear. He's solidly in the WR3-4 conversation though.

Joshua Palmer Scores A Touchdown Versus Minnesota

Los Angeles Chargers Joshua Palmer caught four passes for 66 yards and a touchdown in the team's Week 3 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Palmer's score ultimately proved to be the game-winner. The third-year pro may be in line for more playing time if Mike Williams (knee) misses an extended amount of time, as is feared. The 25-year-old proved last season that he can put together strong fantasy football performances when given the chance. He is seemingly still ahead of rookie first-round pick Quentin Johnston on the Chargers' depth chart. If Williams' injury forces him to the sidelines, Palmer will be a popular waiver wire addition this week.

Joshua Palmer To Start The Season As No. 3 Receiver

Los Angeles Chargers wide receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams are the two top receivers in the Chargers offense. Joshua Palmer will get the majority of the snaps as the third receiver early in the season over rookie first-rounder Quentin Johnston. The 21-year-old rookie pass-catcher is going well before Palmer in fantasy drafts, but Johnston struggled in the preseason and could need some time to develop before becoming more of an every-down player in the NFL. The 24-year-old Palmer, a third-round pick in 2021 out of Tennessee, took a big step in his sophomore season in 2022, catching 72 passes for 769 yards and three touchdowns in 16 games (11 starts) with Allen and Williams missing time with injuries. The bottom line is that fantasy managers should temper expectations with Johnston in Year 1.
