With Week 1 officially in the books, applying the lessons learned after the first game action will be the key going forward. This week's DraftKings main slate features tighter pricing now that more information is available on each team. With that said, injuries, match-ups, and changing roles can still provide an edge on the competition. Here is everything you need to know for Week 2.
Jimmy Garoppolo (v Detroit) - $6,000
After a narrow loss to the Vikings in Week 1, Jimmy Garoppolo enters a favorable spot against the Detroit Lions. Despite the tough matchup in Minnesota, Garoppolo finished with a productive 261 yards passing a week ago. The 49ers signal caller's day could have looked much better after Pierre Garcon and George Kittle dropped a pair of touchdowns. This week Garoppolo faces a Detroit team already in shambles, allowing the Jets to score 48 points. For a mere 6k, Garoppolo warrants cash consideration
Todd Gurley (v Arizona) - $9,200
Always a strong investment, paying up for Todd Gurley looks to be the play of the week at 9.2k. Last week, Gurley blasted Oakland for 147 yards and a score, picking up right where he left off. Gurley now draws an Arizona team that allowed the most fantasy points and yards (301) to running backs, including 133 receiving yards. Gurley should anchor cash and GPP lineups this week.
James Conner (v Kansas City) - $6,700
Priced up from 4.5k last week, James Conner remains a value. In his debut as the Steelers starter, Conner played 96-percent of snaps and saw 100-percent of the running back touches. Conner faces a Kansas City team that allowed the second-most fantasy points and yards to running backs (293), including 189 receiving yards. Conner should carry heavy ownership as a 4.5-point favorite in the highest total game on the slate (53 points), but his volume will be impossible to fade.
Emmanuel Sanders (v Oakland) - $6,200
Also seeing a salary hike from his 5k opening cost, Emmanuel Sanders remains a strong target in Week 2. Sanders displayed a clear connection with Case Keenum from the slot. Keenum showed an affinity for targeting slot receiver last season, and Sanders ran out of the slot on 51-percent of his routes in Week 1. This connection led to 10 receptions for 135 yards. Sanders matches up against a Raiders team that allowed 176 yards and a score on 18 completed passes last week. Fire up Sanders in GPPs and cash.
DeAndre Hopkins (@ Tennessee) - $8,000
DeAndre Hopkins quietly recorded 8 catches for 78 yards on 11 targets last week against a New England team known for taking away the opposing teams primary playmaker. This week DraftKings priced Hopkins as the 4th most expensive receiver at 8k flat. Nuk offers a solid contrarian play off Antonio Brown, Michael Thomas, and Julio Jones against a Titans defense that allowed the 8th most yards to receivers in Week 1.
Mike Wallace (@ Tampa Bay) - $3,900
Recommending receivers with zero catches on the year seems dicey, but at 3.9k, Mike Wallace's price and match-up cannot be ignored. Despite his zero catch outing, Wallace actually led the Eagles in air yards in Week 1. He also benefits from matching up against an atrocious Tampa Bay secondary that allowed the third most yards to receivers in Week 1 and just lost burn victim Vernon Hargreaves for the year. With a sub-4k price tag, Wallace allows gamers to jam multiple studs into lineups.
George Kittle (v Detroit) - $3,800
Bursting onto the scene, George Kittle recorded 5 catches and 90 yards on 9 targets in the 49ers opener. Kittle also left production on the field, dropping a long touchdown. The Lions played a Jets team last week that doesn't utilize a tight end, however they allowed the 7th most fantasy points to the position in 2017. In a matchup against a friendly Lions' secondary, Kittle provides a cheap stacking option with Jimmy Garoppolo.
